WWE RAW aired its November 17 episode from the Worldâs Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, in New York City.
It marked a star-studded night featuring legends and top stars from the past and present, and featured multiple major returns to WWE television. Here is a look at why this weekâs edition of WWE RAW became one of the best shows in years.
1. John Cenaâs final WWE RAW
The show was opened by John Cena, who had his final appearance on WWE RAW as an in-ring talent. The new Intercontinental Champion competed in his last match on the red brand, teaming up with Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to defeat The Judgment Day, ahead of his final Survivor Series match against Dominik Mysterio for the workhorse title.
2. Nikki Bella attacks Stephanie Vaquer
As Stephanie Vaquer was making her way to the ring, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella attacked her on the entrance ramp, following her betrayal last week. Bella thanked Vaquer for reminding her who she was and would not stop until she took the WWE Womenâs World title from her.
3. Guntherâs comeback
The Ring General, Gunther, returned to WWE RAW and had his old theme song as he was making his entrance to battle NXT star JeâVon Evans in âThe Last Time is Nowâ tournament. He did not lose a step despite months of absence and dominated the Young OG to win the match and advance in the tournament.
4. Maxxine Dupriâs upset win over Becky Lynch
Maxxine Dupri had arguably her greatest night in WWE so far by dethroning Becky Lynch for the WWE Womenâs Intercontinental title. In the final moments of the bout that The Man dominated, AJ Lee made her return, which distracted her and allowed Dupri to hit a Crossbody from the top rope to secure the win.
4. Dolph Ziggler returns
After Zack Ryderâs return on SmackDown, The Last is Now tournament saw now TNA star Dolph Ziggler come back to WWE to battle Solo Sikoa. Despite the crowd being firmly in his corner and displaying an excellent match, Sikoa nailed Ziggler with a Samoan Spike to win the showdown.
5. Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar return
The final segment of RAW saw The Vision, Logan Paul, and Drew McIntyre engage in an all-out brawl against Cody Rhodes, The Usos, and CM Punk ahead of their WarGames match. The entire fiasco saw the return of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, who had an intense staredown and seemingly joined the two sides for their encounter set to take place at WWE Survivor Series.
