Will “The Man” jump ship and choose AEW?
Becky Lynch’s WWE contract is set to expire in a few days, prompting speculation that she may join AEW.If Lynch’s contract expires, which is still an ‘if’, she will be a free agent on June 1, which means Tony Khan could present her with an offer.
While the odds imply she’d go with WWE, Tony Khan has a nearly infinite financial account and is keen to hit big this year. So, if Becky Lynch does join AEW, here are five possible AEW can book her.
5. Feuding with AEW Women’s Champion
Toni Storm is, in theory, at the top of the AEW women’s locker room because she is the Women’s World Champion, but Lynch’s entry would undoubtedly disrupt that position.
Of course, there’s the standard argument that someone shouldn’t simply walk in and be in the world championship picture right immediately, which is one of the reasons Mercedes Mone is the TBS Champion rather than the Women’s World Champion. But sometimes you simply have to do what’s best for business, and we’re talking about Becky Lynch.
4. Making her own faction
One of Becky Lynch’s main goals in WWE has been to elevate younger talent; it appears to be something she is truly enthusiastic about, and you can see it in action over the last year or two. In AEW, there is a chance things will alter. Perhaps being in a new environment would cause her to focus on proving and establishing herself more. Not that she needs to, but being at a new workplace may make one feel compelled to do so.
But if that doesn’t change, and she still has that desire to lift others with herself, one thing she never got to do in WWE was head her faction. All of the effort to get underutilized talent more TV time was done behind the scenes, so why not have it play out on-screen instead, especially given AEW’s proclivity for doing so. And we all know that if she did, there would be some reality to the scheduling of the women’s division that would be quite meaningful.

3. Fueding with Mercedes Mone
This is a commercial match. If Tony Khan were to make a big money offer to Becky Lynch, this is the match that would make it all worthwhile. There has been, and will continue to be, much debate about whether Mercedes Mone is worth whatever Khan pays her.
Maybe on her own, but the answer isn’t a clear ‘yes’. However, when you add ANOTHER star on a very similar level, and the appeal of that match becomes a possibility, it may begin to make sense.
It’s not just about having Mercedes Mone; it’s also about giving others another reason to enter the ring and maybe even following suit because they want to fight alongside her. Whether Becky Lynch is one of those people is a matter for speculation, but Khan may have his sights set on the prize and he has an unending supply of money to make it happen.
2. Reigniting her feud with Saraya
Becky Lynch may be unfamiliar to many of the women in AEW—the great majority, in fact—but Saraya is a whole different story.
They’ve been teammates and opponents, and with Saraya’s retirement-turned-comeback, it’s always interesting to see what a match with her former opponents might look like now. Becky Lynch has to be at the top of the list, and Tony Khan has a chance to make it happen.
1. Making her debut at AEW All-In
If Becky Lynch made her debut at All In London, she’d be hailed as a homegrown celebrity. It goes without saying that if she debuted anyplace, she would garner a lot of attention, but in front of AEW’s second-largest crowd ever (after the first All-In), and so close to home, it would be extra special.
There may not be a better moment or location to pull it off, and failure to do so may be viewed as a squandered opportunity.
