Next WWE PLE is just a few weeks away
WWE Backlash 2025 brought an action-packed night filled with high-stakes championship clashes, personal rivalries reaching new heights, and surprising developments that left the WWE Universe buzzing.
As the first major event following WWE WrestleMania 41, Backlash delivered on its promise to push stories forward and spotlight the evolving landscape across all brands.
The United States Championship was defended in a wild Fatal 4-Way featuring Jacob Fatu, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, and LA Knight. Outside interference and unexpected appearances added layers of chaos, turning the match into one of the night’s most talked-about contests.
Over in the women’s division, Lyra Valkyria successfully retained her Intercontinental Championship in a heated battle against Becky Lynch, who completely snapped after the loss, forcing WWE officials to intervene.
The Intercontinental Championship was also up for grabs, as Dominik Mysterio narrowly retained in a back-and-forth showdown with Penta, aided by Judgment Day and a well-timed masked intervention.
Meanwhile, Gunther and Pat McAfee went toe-to-toe in a physical battle that ended with McAfee passing out in a submission, earning the former world champion a decisive victory.
In the main event, longtime rivals John Cena and Randy Orton clashed for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a brutal encounter marred by multiple ref bumps and outside chaos. Cena ultimately left with his title intact after a controversial finish, once again proving he’ll do whatever it takes to remain on top.
WWE will be holding Money in the Bank PLE next
After bidding goodbye to WWE Backlash, fans can expect that the company will start building towards their next PLE, Money in the Bank 2025. The 16th annual Money in the Bank event will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
The pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event will include wrestlers from the promotion’s Raw and SmackDown brand divisions, making it the first Money in the Bank to be televised on Netflix.
The event is centered on the Money in the Bank ladder match, a multi-person ladder match in which competitors fight to earn a contract that provides the respective men’s and women’s winners a championship match of their choice at any time during the next year.
This event will also be John Cena’s final Money in the Bank appearance as an in-ring performer before he retires from professional wrestling at the end of 2025.
