The Hounds of Justice debuted in November 2012
The team of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) made their main roster debut as the Sheild faction during the 2012 edition of the WWE Survivor Series PLE which was held on November 18, 2012.
The faction soon began to terrorize the whole roster transforming into one of the most iconic factions of all time. Two members namely Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins from the faction went on to become top names in the company. The faction was involved in some of the most iconic feuds and matches during their heyday.
The faction’s supremacy was showcased in six-man tag team matches where they had a flawless undefeated TV record from December 2012 to May 2013, highlighted by a triumph at WrestleMania 29. The faction was disbanded in 2014 when Rollins betrayed his Shield brothers and aligned with Triple H and The Authority.
However, even after their initial breakup and Dean Ambrose’s (Jon Moxley) WWE exit, many fans still hope for a reunion of the OGs. While the reunion is a distant dream, the WWE during the Royal Rumble PLE paid tribute to the faction.
Triple H has named a section of the arena as a tribute to the iconic faction
In a recent behind-the-scenes vlog from the Royal Rumble PLE, WWE CCO Triple H was seen giving directions to his team, after Jey Uso’s thrilling win in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Triple H instructed his team to inform Uso that he could bring his son into the ring to celebrate the victory.
“Tell Jey he can bring his son in. He’s in the Shield corner, Green shirt.” Triple H said. The corner was the same spot where the three stars used to make their iconic entrance through the crowd to deliver justice. This is one of the prime examples of the faction’s influence and their lasting legacy as well as a show of respect from the CCO.
While Jey Uso bagged the win in the men’s Royal Rumble match, Charlotte Flair made her return and won the women’s Royal Rumble match. Cody Rhodes defended the Undisputed WWE title against Kevin Owens in a ladder match.
Additionally, DIY (Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) retained the WWE Tag Team titles against Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) with a little help from the Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins).
