What is Ula Fala? Everything you need to know about The Bloodline’s Samoan necklace & it’s heritage: WWE
‘Ula Fala’ is the red necklace worn by The Tribal Chief in The Bloodline
The Bloodline is one of the greatest professional wrestling factions in WWE, which consists of members from the Anoa’i family. They represent their family legacy and have been dominating the industry for the last four years. All the members of the Bloodline faction achieved monumental success, holding some of the biggest championships, breaking records, and more.
Despite the championships, the Tribal Chief’s status and their family assets play an important role in the faction. One such thing is the red necklace ‘Ula Fala’, which Roman Reigns wore for the past three and a half years. Here we take a look at what Ula Fala is and the history and heritage behind it.
History & Heritage of Ula Fala
The Ula Fala is the traditional Samoan necklace, which is made out of the Pandanus tree seeds. The seeds are painted red for the ornamentation and linked with each other to form a necklace. In the Samoan culture, the high chiefs wear the Ula Fala necklaces with an honor to represent their community. The person who wears the Ula Fala will be treated as the high generals, who are responsible for the family’s legacy and is considered as the protector of the dynasty.
Not everyone can become the chief of the dynasty, as their community has a certain tradition to crown their leader. Only the person who gets the acknowledgment and blessings from the Samoan Ancestors will be handed the Ula Fala and will be declared the Chief.
In the past Anoa’i family, WWE Superstars such as ‘The High Chief’ Peter Miavia, Yokozuna, Afa, Sika, Rikishi, Umaga and Roman Reigns were the ones to wear Ula Fala, representing their dynasty.
Roman Reigns becoming Tribal Chief
At the 2020 Hell in a Cell PLE, after Roman Reigns defeated his cousin Jey Uso in a Hell in a Cell I Quit match, got blessings from Afa and Sika and was presented with the ‘Ula Fala’, making Roman Reigns the Tribal Chief of the dynasty, which lead to the foundation of The Bloodline.
