What is WWE planning for Royal Rumble 2027 in Arizona?

The 2027 edition will emanate from Arizona.
Earlier this week, WWE parent company TKO and UFC CEO Dana White announced that the 2027 edition of Royal Rumble will emanate from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The 40th edition will take place in February; however, no date has been announced for the PLE.
It will be the second Rumble event to take place in February after 2025, as usually the PLE takes place in January. A new report has now shed more light on what WWE has planned to do for the 2026 edition in Arizona.
WWE is seriously considering expanding the Royal Rumble event to two nights
According to a report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE is seriously exploring the possibility of turning the Royal Rumble event into a two-night show, with the change potentially coming as soon as the 2027 edition in Phoenix, Arizona.
While no official plans have been finalized yet, the current expectation within WWE is that the Royal Rumble will remain a one-night event for now. However, there is a belief that 2027 could be the final year of the traditional format, as WWE is interested in transforming the Rumble into a larger, “multi-night destination event.”
WWE has transformed WrestleMania (in 2020) and SummerSlam (in 2025) into a two-night spectacle, and this report likely means they’re planning to expand the big four PLEs to two nights.
Although many fans have been critical of the format, the Royal Rumble PLE is the most suitable for the two-night format. The men’s and women’s Rumble matches are the main attraction for the show, and both can headline the shows each night.
SummerSlam 2026 this past weekend, despite being a two-night affair, suffered from lack of build toward matches and half-empty arenas due to high ticket prices and lack of interest in the product. This is one of the major criticisms against the two-night PLEs.
However, all of that can be attributed to TKO’s desire to maximize revenue, an unnecessarily packed schedule featuring back-to-back events, and inconsistent creative direction, not the PLEs themselves becoming a two-night affair.

WWE has confirmed that Royal Rumble 2027 will return to the United States. The event will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. WWE has not announced a date for the event.
