CM Punk is currently feuding with Drew McIntyre
Following the huge success of SummerSlam 2024, the firm plans to hold a large worldwide PLE Bash in Berlin 2024. SummerSlam 2024 broke all previous records in terms of goods sales, broadcast viewership, social media engagement, and other metrics. The SummerSlam 2024 competition included seven great matchups. Every contest on the program had an excellent plot and a fitting conclusion.
Even though all of the matchups on the bill were eagerly anticipated, the one between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre was outstanding. Both of these former WWE champions were in a heated rivalry, and WWE began developing the feud shortly after CM Punk’s injury, creating a very personal program between the two.
CM Punk made his singles match comeback to WWE on television and huge PLE after almost a decade; at SummerSlam 2024, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre faced off in a special guest referee match, with former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins serving as the referee.
Drew McIntyre won after CM Punk was distracted by Seth Rollins wearing Punk’s band, which had the names of his wife AJ Lee and dog Larry. While CM Punk was putting GTS on Rollins, the Scottish psychopath took advantage of the situation and won the bout with a brutal Claymore kick.
BackupHangman of WrestlePurists recently reported on CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s rumored intentions for the WWE Bash in Berlin in 2024. “According to multiple sources within WWE, CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match is planned for Bash in Berlin.”
But did you know CM Punk last fought Umaga in a strap match? Here’s what happened in their match.
CM Punk defeated Umaga in his last strap match stipulation
CM Punk defied the odds at Extreme Rules 2009 by defeating Umaga in his own game, a Samoan Strap Match. While former Mr. Money in the Bank was strapped to the 350-pound behemoth on Sunday night, he miraculously carried his opponent to three corners of the ring, whacked him with a Go To Sleep, and then crashed the final ring post in succession to win.
Later that night, Punk’s night got even better as he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
Umaga had been a thorn in the Straightedge Superstar’s side for almost a month at the time. The Samoan Bulldozer not only prevented Punk’s attempts to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on SmackDown, but he also brutally beat him on Judgment Day 2009.
But their final meeting before Extreme Rules forecasted the future, and it looked well for Punk. On Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Punk beat Umaga with an incredible Go To Sleep, exactly like he did at Extreme Rules. Former WWE Champion accomplished what others thought was impossible.
