Randy Orton is all set to face Je’Von Evans on the 10/8 edition of WWE NXT

WWE NXT is just two weeks away from the grand premiere on The CW Network, departing from the five-year-long run with the USA Network. To make the CW Network debut special, WWE has announced that CM Punk & Randy Orton will be a part of the grand launch of the first two editions of NXT on CW.

Punk ahead of the show, appeared on the September 17, 2024, edition of WWE NXT and officially revealed himself as the special guest referee for Trick Williams vs Ethan Page’s NXT Championship match on October 1, 2024, in his hometown Illinois, Chicago.

As Punk’s role was made clear, most wondered what Randy Orton would do on the October 8th show. At this stage, Orton revealed that he would be coming to NXT for a singles match against Je’Von Evans on the October 8, 2024 episode of NXT. As Orton is set to have his match on the black and yellow brand, here we take a look at whether Orton ever had a match on WWE NXT.

Randy Orton’s NXT match

Randy Orton had only one match in NXT and the match was over a decade ago. On March 27, 2013, WWE NXT tapings (taped on February 21, 2013), Randy Orton faced Damien Sandow in his first-ever match in the black and yellow brand and won the match by pinfall after RKO. This is the first and only appearance of Orton in the NXT brand, after which Orton never had a chance to step inside the NXT ring again.

The upcoming match against Je’Von Evans will be Randy Orton’s second match in WWE NXT and will be his first match in over 11 years. Randy’s announcement created huge excitement for several WWE fans and even his opponent Je’Von Evans.

Je’Von Evans following Orton’s tweet challenging him for a singles match, went excited and responded to Orton’s challenge and sent him a message backstage in a digital exclusive taping.

Je’Von Evans said, “It’s crazy because, in my eyes, I’m a future legend. But I just know I ain’t getting killed, and that’s for damn sure. So Randy, all love, all respect. But sometimes, the legend gotta go down, and I’m the one that’s gonna put him down. Je’Von Evans, the Young OG, I’m coming for you.”
