‘The Scottish Warrior’ Drew McIntyre was recently announced for a new film called “The Last Druid,” alongside Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe. According to Deadline, the historical action drama is scheduled to film in Spain this summer.
Per Deadline, “The movie will tell the story of a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation.”
The movie will follow Russell Crowe’s character as he once again faces the Roman Empire, taking place 25 years after the events of Gladiator. Drew recently finished filming Amazon MGM’s big-budget Highlander reboot, where he plays the brother of lead actor Henry Cavill.
McIntyre has been absent from WWE programming since losing the unsanctioned match to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42 in April. Despite reports of his return, Drew has not yet made any appearance on WWE Television.

Amid return rumours and the movie announcement, PWInsider has provided an update on the Scottish Warrior. The report notes that fans shouldn’t expect McIntyre to return to WWE anytime soon.
The report also debunks rumors that suggested Drew McIntyre would return leading into SummerSlam 2026, which is set for August 1 and 2 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Insider noted that the rumours were completely inaccurate, as there had been no creative plans in place for McIntyre at the time, and there was a reason for that. Since returning from filming the Highlander reboot in Scotland, McIntyre had been exploring several other Hollywood opportunities.
This comes after a report from WrestleVotes Radio that suggested that an internal WWE document circulated earlier this month, and it listed both Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre in relation to SummerSlam this August.
Notably, the report added that while no specific information about their potential returns was included, their presence in the document indicates they are at least being factored into plans as the event approaches.
