Ilja Dragunov is one of the most impressive wrestlers on the active WWE roster!
Ilja Dragunov is one of the toughest and striking professional wrestlers, who has been in WWE since 2019. He was initially assigned to NXT UK and had a career-defining run by dethroning Walter to end his 870-day reign. Dragunov then moved to NXT and made a great impact.
He climbed up the ladder to become one of the top stars of the secondary brand and a championship contender. Ilja soon became the NXT Champion and became an unstoppable force in the developmental brand. The Mad Dragon, after an impressive run in NXT, was brought to the main roster earlier this year through the WWE draft.
The Mad Dragon with just a few months in the main roster proved to be impressive and most consider himself as the future world champion. As Dragunov has just begun his career on the main roster, the Unbesiegbar suffered an injury and WWE officially addressed it and revealed his return timeline, based on the medical team report. Here is everything you need to know about Ilja Dragunov’s return timeline.
Ilja Dragunov return timeline
On the September 30, 2024, episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE’s color Commentator Joe Tessimore announced that Ilja Dragunovs suffered a torn ACL while challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship in a house show. The medical team has checked him and revealed that the Mad Dragon will be away from action for at least six to nine months.
Joe Tessimore on Raw said,
“We do have some unfortunate news to pass along. Ilja Dragunov was injured during a match with GUNTHER this past weekend. It is suspected that he has a torn ACL. The prognosis of our medical team is that Dragunov will be out of action for approximately 6-to-9 months. We wish him a speedy recovery on his return to the ring.”
Based on the data provided by WWE, it is clear that the expected in-ring return of Ilja Dragunov will be between March and June 2025.
It is unfortunate for Dragunov to have his time away from in-ring action in the peak wrestling season. However, we wish the Unbesiegbar a speedy recovery and hope to see him return to in-ring action very soon. What are your thoughts on Dragunov’s initial run in the WWE main roster?
