Sony Pictures Network India had been the home of WWE in India for over two decades.

Stamford-based promotion’s developmental brand WWE NXT started in 2010 on Syfy as a seasonal show. The show was presented as a mixture of WWE’s scripted live event shows and reality television.

Talents from WWE‘s then-developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), took part in a contest to become the next “breakout star”, with the help of mentors from the promotion’s flagship brands, Raw and SmackDown.

In June 2012, the promotion concluded the seasonal competition format and revamped the show as a developmental wrestling program. Since then, the show has become the perfect ground to develop and create new stars.

Following its premiere on Syfy in February 2010, the show was replaced by SmackDown but continued as a one-hour webcast on WWE.com in the U.S. until June 2012. NXT expanded its reach globally via the WWE Network in 2014.

In 2019, the show transitioned into a live two-hour broadcast on the USA Network, airing Wednesday nights. A major rebranding in September 2021 saw the launch of NXT 2.0, which was dropped in September 2022, and on October 1, 2024, NXT made its move to The CW network in the U.S.A.

WWE NXT currently airs live on Tuesdays at 8 PM ET and has one of the best women’s wrestling divisions in wrestling. Many rising stars from the developmental brand get promoted to the main roster from time to time, showcasing their prowess on the main roster.

In 2025, Monday Night Raw made its exclusive move to Netflix in the United States and international markets, along with other WWE programming such as NXT, except in a few regions where pre-existing broadcast deals remained in place.

In India, WWE NXT, along with the rest of WWE programming, continued to air on Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) due to an existing deal. SPNI had been the home of all WWE shows, premium live events, and specials for 23 years. However, the long-standing partnership, which began in 2002, officially came to an end in 2025.

The deal, which was made in 2020, where SPNI renewed the WWE media rights for an estimated $180-210 million over five years, expired in March 2025.
