WrestleMania 42’s ticket sales have been a hot topic among fans.
WWE struggling to sell tickets for the 42nd edition of WrestleMania has been a well-known issue among fans who have been very vocal over the steps the promotion has taken to build excitement among fans, including John Cena’s return as the host of the PLE.
Ahead of the show, WWE has sold just over 40k tickets for Night 1, while Night 2 tickets are at around 43k, and the setup is 45k. Due to these numbers, some fans started claiming that the 42nd edition will be the lowest attended two-night Mania in history.
Now, even though the show is still five days away and WWE can still move those remaining tickets, does the claim hold any value even now? For that matter, let’s also look at the lowest attended single-night Mania in history.
WrestleMania 37 is the lowest attended two-night event in history
The 37th edition of the PLE, which emanated on April 10 and 11, 2021, from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The show was rescheduled from California in March due to COVID-19 restrictions
Attendance for the show was limited to 25,000 fans per night due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with spectators seated in physically distanced pods. This already puts it at a disadvantage when compared to other editions.
That said, Night 1 of the 37th edition drew 17,946 fans, while Night 2’s gate was 18,501, for a combined total of 40,806. Since the beginning of the two-night concept, this is the lowest gate in promotion’s history.
Note: We’re excluding WrestleMania 36 as it was held without a live audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in effectively the lowest ticket sales.
