Jade Cargill was attacked backstage on WWE SmackDown
One-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, Jade Cargill was severely injured due to an attack on the 11/22 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Cargill was left bloodied and unconscious on the hood of a car with a broken windshield.
As per the WWE, Jade has been diagnosed with the following injuries, Deep Lumbar Paraspinal Muscle Contusions, Bruised Kidney, Sprained MCL in her right knee, Tibial Plateau Bone Bruise of her right knee, and Facial Lacerations.
Cargill‘s tag partner Bianca Belair was competing in the Women’s US Title tournament when her partner was attacked. Belair left the match midway and rushed backstage to check on her tag partner. The promotion has not revealed who attacked the tag champion backstage.
This attack forced Cargill out of action as she was scheduled to take part in the women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series PLE. Bayley replaced Jade as she joined Rhea Ripley’s team to take on Liv Morgan’s team.
Naomi replaced Jade Cargill as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion
During Cargill’s absence, Belair was asked to vacate the tag title as she would have been unable to defend it. However, Naomi rose up to save the day for her friend and offered her services as a tag partner. She has now replaced Cargill as one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Bianca.
Although the promotion has not yet been revealed the assailant they have teased multiple names in the last few weeks. Some fans believe Naomi attacked Cargill to take her spot and become the tag champion. However, the majority of the fans believe that it was ‘The Queen’ Charlotte Flair who attacked Cargill.
The Queen has been sidelined due to injury action for the past eight months. The last time she was seen inside the ring was in December 2023, when she was competing against Asuka and tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus during the match.
The main reason fans believe this is that WWE teased a future clash between the two when Cargill joined the promotion. The match never materialized due to Flair’s injury, but many suspect Flair was the one who attacked her, possibly as part of WWE’s long-term storytelling.
Another point of contention arose when Flair shared a video on her social media teasing her return ahead of the 11/22 SmackDown episode, the same show where Jade was attacked. This has led many fans to believe that the promotion is doing long-term storytelling and Flair might be the one behind the attack.
The Stamford-based promotion has yet to reveal the true assailant behind last month’s backstage attack. Until then, all we fans can do is speculate. That said, it will be interesting to see how this storyline progresses with Naomi in the tag team picture and the possibility of Charlotte’s return.
