Who is Iyo Sky married to? Latest on WWE star’s wedding

The former Women’s World Champion tied the knot with a fellow WWE star.

Former WWE Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky has largely kept her personal life private. However, this change occurred when Sky took to social media to announce her wedding to fellow WWE star Naraku fka EVIL.

Sky announced the wedding via her X handle, sharing a picture of the wedding along with a statement in Japanese that read:

“To everyone who has always shown us such warm support. On a personal note, we would like to announce that NARAKU (formerly EVIL) of WWE and IYO SKY (formerly Io Shirai) of WWEare now married. We began our professional wrestling careers in Japan, each seeing different landscapes and ‘skies,’ but starting this early summer, we feel a deep sense of connection and joy at becoming colleagues and comrades as we take on the same stage—WWE—across the ocean.

From now on, as a married couple, we will support each other in our daily lives. As WWE ‘Superstars,’ we will share both the lonely ‘darkness’ and the glory, lifting each other up and striving to shine even brighter.

We will never forget our gratitude to all the fans who have supported and guided us thus far, as well as to everyone involved, and we intend to forge ahead together toward even greater heights. We are still a work in progress, but we humbly ask for your continued guidance and support.”

Who is Naraku?

Takaaki Watanabe, better known by his ring name Evil, for his work in NJPW, where he has held multiple titles, including the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Watanabe recently signed with WWE and made his in-ring debut in the developmental brand, NXT, on the May 12 edition.

Similar to stars who sign with WWE, Watanabe made his debut as Naraku. He battled Lince Dorado in his in-ring debut and picked up his first win in the WWE.

Watanabe also has had an extended run in the United States, making appearances in Ring of Honor (owned by AEW CEO Tony Khan) from 2014 to 2015, as well as appearances for Global Force Wrestling. 

Naruka and Iyo (Masami Odate) have been linked with even reports of engagement and even separation. However, the recent news has put it all to rest as fans are showering the new power couple in WWE with love.

Iyo Sky & Naruka haven’t registered their marriage yet

Shortly after, they went public with the news, and the couple, in their conversation with Model Press, explained why they chose to announce the marriage to fans. Sky attributed the fact that they’re both working for WWE as the reason behind the reveal.

“We haven’t actually registered our marriage yet, but the reason is that we’ve now officially become members of the same company. Until now, we were both in different rings, and we were both independent as wrestlers and superstars, so we didn’t think it was necessary to reveal our private lives.

Now that we’re both members of WWE, and are colleagues in the ring, or rather, in the same company, I thought it would be great if everyone could find out that we’ve become husband and wife.”

On being the first Japanese married couple to be in WWE, Naraku noted that he had just started, while Sky added that she is happy that her husband is now with her ‘on the front lines.’

“I’ve only just started, so I look forward to what I’ll do in the future.”

Meanwhile, Iyo Sky said, “I’m the senior WWE superstar who went to the US first, but it’s really, really tough to be on the front lines against the world in a foreign country like America. I’m so happy that my husband and I are in an environment where we can support each other through this kind of life, and we will continue to work hard in the future, supporting each other but not letting our guard down, and pushing each other to improve.”
