The G.O.A.T. of pro wrestling is set to retire in December.

What started at Raw Netflix debut is now in its final chapter as John Cena is gearing up for his final WWE match. Cena kicked off his retirement tour in January and is set to hang up his wrestling boots after over two decades in December.

Cena’s retirement match is set to take place at the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will take place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The 17-time World Champion, recently, in his appearance on Raw, defeated Dominik Mysterio to capture the Intercontinental title and finally become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.

Additionally, there is an ongoing ‘Last Time Is Now Tournament‘ which will decide his final opponent. The 16-man tournament that began on Raw on November 10 in Boston will feature top names from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and even competitors from outside WWE.

Reports suggest Gunther winning the tournament to face Cena in his retirement match. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from giving their opinion on who they want to face Cena in his final in-ring appearance.

John Cena has had iconic rivalries with many big names in pro wrestling, some of whom have either retired or are currently under contract with rival promotions. This has not stopped fans from demanding that WWE bring these stars back one final time to take on Cena.

One of the most popular such names is the Rater R Superstar, Edge, better known among AEW fans as Adam Copeland. Edge is regarded as one of the best rivals of Cena, and fans have continuously been vocal about the two stars battling for one final time.

While Edge being under contract with AEW likely negates the possibility, the two stars themselves have paid tribute to each other, performing each other’s iconic moves.

Fans have also wished for many rising stars from NXT, like Oba Femi and TNA standout Joe Hendry, or stars who deserve a major push, like Drew McIntyre, to battle Cena in his retirement tour.

Fans have also sarcastically asked WWE not to pick Jey Uso as Cena’s final opponent, as the promotion seems to push Jey, despite massive backlash from the fans online. Chris Jericho is another name speculated for a WWE return, and some fans do want him to lock horns with the 17-time World Champion.

The majority of the fans want Cena to face either Edge, Chris Jericho, or rising stars such as Joe Hendry and Oba Femi. It remains to be seen who outlasts everyone to win the tournament and secure his spot against Cena at SNME.

Below are some fan reactions and opinions on WWE’s post about the tournament:

How will John Cena’s final opponent be decided?

His opponent will be chosen through a 16-man tournament involving stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and outside promotions.

When and where will John Cena’s retirement match take place?

John Cena’s WWE retirement match will take place on the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which is set to emanate from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
