Samantha Irvin has left WWE to pursue a different path in her career

Samantha Irvin’s departure from WWE surprised the professional wrestling world, but the organization has not taken long to discover an appropriate replacement. Irvin announced her decision to leave with a lengthy statement posted to her Instagram account earlier today.

Lilian Garcia has replaced Irvin and will resume full-time for her ring-announcing duties. She began immediately on tonight’s broadcast of WWE RAW, announcing the New Day vs the Authors of Pain.

The 58-year-old spent a decade with WWE, from 1999 to 2009. She is identified with Monday Night RAW and is undoubtedly the finest candidate to succeed Irvin following her stunning departure.

Lilian Garcia returned for another time with the promotion from 2011 to 2016. She has subsequently made intermittent cameos on WWE RAW, most recently assisting Irvin with an announcement earlier this year.

Samantha Irvin’s statement stunned many people, including her former coworkers. She was positioned as the company’s lead ring announcer and has been at several PLEs, including WrestleMania 41. She was a musician before becoming a professional wrestler.

Many believed she had signed with AEW, but her long-time partner Ricochet has confirmed that she won’t be joining AEW, but nothing has been said about it by Samantha Irvin.

Lilian Garcia hinted about her WWE return even before Samantha Irvin left

Lilian Garcia talked glowingly about her one-time appearance on WWE RAW in May of this year. She revealed on her Instagram story how an anticipated reunion evolved into an ‘awesome’ experience with Samantha Irvin:

“I just stopped by to say hi to everybody. Next thing you know, I was on the show. It was so much fun. Triple H, thank you so much for including me in the show. Doing that with Samantha was so awesome. And all the fans and the reception that I got, you guys are amazing. I miss you. I’m just so glad that I can pop in every now and then. I hope you guys had fun tonight because there’s nothing like a live Raw event. Until next time, I love you.” [H/T Inside the Ropes].

Garcia is renowned among the WWE Universe due to her energy and commitment on the job. She became the first female Latina to announce at WrestleMania, following a highly successful career with her present employers.
