The Second City Saint emerged victorious at the Raw Netflix debut

‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk locked horns with his fierce rival Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins in the main event of Monday Night Raw’s Netflix debut which was held at the Intuit Dome on January 6. Punk landed two back-to-back GTS in a gruesome clash to pick up the win.

Punk will now shift his focus towards winning in the Royal Rumble 2025 PLE to fulfill his dream and battle the current World Heavyweight champion, Gunther. Following his win in the main event last week, the Second City Saint reiterated his intentions to fight for the title and warned the champions.

Ahead of the first PLE of 2025, let us take a look at the top three reasons the Second City Saint will win the 2025 men’s Rumble match.

3. Prove that he is the face of Monday Night Raw

The Second City Saint made his return on the 2023 edition of Survivor Series PLE which was held in his hometown Chicago. Since making his return Punk has not only proved that he still can compete at the highest level but also that he is a viable contender for World titles.

Punk has been featured on multiple posters of Monday Night Raw, however, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is considered as the face of the Red brand. The Second City Saint can win the Rumble and prove the doubters that he truly is the face of the Red brand.

2. Complete his dream of headlining Mania

The Second City Saint has on multiple instances stated his intentions of fighting for the title and headlining WrestleMania. Punk has never headlined the grandest stage and is one of the biggest dreams of the WWE legend.

Similar to how the current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes completed his story and won the title against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, the Second City Saint could also win the Rumble match and guarantee his shot at the title in the main event of Mania.

1. Revenge his loss of Royal Rumble ten years ago

The Second City Saint lost the Undisputed WWE title eleven years ago at the hand of The Rock at the 2013 Royal Rumble PLE which was held at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. A win at this Rumble would not only kick off his title journey but would also remove the sour taste of losing from his mouth.

The Second City Siant failed in his quest last year when he was eliminated by Cody Rhodes, Punk had to walk home with just the title of being the ‘runner-up’. Punk can win this year’s Rumble omitting the horrible memory of loss and go on to headline Mania.

Punk’s last WWE Championship reign ended with a loss to The Rock at the 2013 Royal Rumble. If he wins the Rumble and goes on to defeat Gunther at WrestleMania, it would mark a triumphant return to the top, ending an 11-year title drought for the “Second City Saint”.
