“The American Nightmare” is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion.
In the recently released documentary WrestleMania XL: Behind The Curtain, WWE creative director Triple H made an unexpected disclosure about Cody Rhodes. He has informed the American Nightmare that he would not be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Despite knowing he wouldn’t be facing the Tribal Chief, Rhodes gestured at him after winning the Royal Rumble 2024. The maneuver was not part of the script.
Hunter said, “In the afternoon, I told him. It was becoming more of a reality that the match between Roman and The Rock could take place at WrestleMania. And I don’t think anybody knew a thing outside of Cody, and I’m sure that was a brutal day. ”
Cody Rhodes anyway pointed at The Tribal Chief
Following his second consecutive Royal Rumble victory, Cody Rhodes stepped on the Turnbuckle and gestured to Roman Reigns, who was in the audience. He knew Roman would not be his opponent, as Triple H had indicated, but he did start his own business. On SmackDown following the Royal Rumble, Cody informed fans that The Rock will be Roman’s new challenger, not him.
Cody remained composed while revealing The Rock as Roman Reigns’ new adversary on television, but he was enraged by the storyline’s creative direction. Cody Rhodes recently told The Pivot Show that many people had told him that it was acceptable to give The Great One the WrestleMania berth. He felt the entire notion was ridiculous.
He was not OK, given that WrestleMania is WWE’s equivalent of the Super Bowl. People who assumed it wouldn’t upset him didn’t know him well. Rhodes dismissed it as rubbish, adding that he had worked hard for the chance his entire life.
Fortunately, the proposed match between cousins The Rock and Roman Reigns was canceled owing to WWE fans. They continually opposed the notion, urging Cody Rhodes to finish his story after failing on his first effort at WrestleMania 39.
