Why didn’t WWE reveal SummerSlam 2026 attendance numbers?

WWE opted not to reveal attendance numbers for SummerSlam.
WWE SummerSlam 2026 delivered two memorable nights of action at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, featuring major title matches and the surprise returns of Randy Orton and Kevin Owens. However, one notable detail was missing from the presentation.
Unlike previous editions of SummerSlam and WrestleMania, WWE never officially announced the event’s attendance figures. The omission quickly became a talking point among fans, especially since the company has traditionally celebrated milestone attendance numbers during its biggest Premium Live Events.
According to veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, there may be a strategic reason behind WWE’s silence.
Dave Meltzer believes AEW All In could be the reason behind WWE’s decision

Speaking in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer suggested WWE may have deliberately avoided revealing its attendance because AEW’s upcoming All In event at Wembley Stadium is on track to attract a larger crowd.
While approximately 60,000 fans reportedly attended SummerSlam across both nights, WWE never confirmed any official numbers during the broadcast or afterward.
Meltzer believes that if WWE had been satisfied with the figure, it likely would have promoted it as it has done in previous years.
“I think partially it is because AEW’s beating their number. Even if they went and said 40,000… AEW’s probably beating 40,000. So I think it’s probably like, ‘We can’t be saying anything.’”
He added that WWE’s decision not to announce an attendance figure may itself be revealing.
“If they were happy, we would have heard an announcement. The fact that we did not hear an announcement tells you that they are very much downplaying it.”
AEW All In continues building momentum

AEW is set to return to London’s Wembley Stadium later this month for All In, one of the promotion’s biggest annual events.
Following the Redemption pay-per-view, both AEW World Championship matches for All In were officially confirmed, helping accelerate ticket sales in recent weeks.
According to Meltzer, ticket distribution for the event has continued to rise steadily.
“Actually, they got it up to 33,086. That was the final update this afternoon. 33,086 for Night Two. It was 21,000 not that long ago, and they papered it to get it to 32,000,” he said.
With several weeks still remaining before the event, All In is expected to surpass the 40,000-ticket mark if sales continue at their current pace.
Whether WWE’s decision was influenced by AEW’s momentum remains speculation, as the company has not publicly explained why no attendance figure was announced for SummerSlam.
What is certain, however, is that attendance has become another area of competition between wrestling’s two biggest promotions. Both companies frequently highlight ticket sales, gate records and crowd figures as indicators of success.
As All In approaches and WWE prepares for its next major Premium Live Event, attendance comparisons are likely to remain part of the conversation across the wrestling industry.
Did WWE announce the official attendance for SummerSlam 2026?
No. WWE did not reveal an official attendance figure during or after SummerSlam 2026.
Why does Dave Meltzer think WWE didn’t announce the attendance?
Meltzer believes WWE may have avoided announcing the number because AEW All In is projected to draw a larger crowd, though this remains his opinion and has not been confirmed by WWE.
