The upcoming Crown Jewel PLE will be held in Saudi Arabia
WWE is set to host the 2024 Crown Jewel PLE on November 2, 2024, at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will showcase storylines that have been developing leading up to the show.
Since 2014, WWE has held special events in Saudi Arabia. In 2018, the company entered a 10-year strategic partnership with the Ministry of Sports, which was later expanded in collaboration with the General Authority of Entertainment.
The Saudi event will feature two highly anticipated ‘Champion vs. Champion’ matches. Cody Rhodes is scheduled to compete against Gunther for the inaugural Men’s Crown Jewel Title, while Liv Morgan will take on Nia Jax for the inaugural Women’s Crown Jewel Title.
Additionally, ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton is set to face his friend-turned-rival Kevin Owens in a grudge match. The PLE will also showcase one of the most eagerly awaited confrontations between the OG Bloodline consisting of Roman Reigns, Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso, and Bloodline 2.0 which consists of Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu.

WWE has received fierce criticism for holding events in Saudi Arabia
The WWE has received heavy scrutiny due to its partnership with Saudi Arabia. It has also faced backlash from fans and some of the WWE stars for holding events in the country. Fans criticize the Saudi government for sport-swashing the plethora of violations committed by the regime.
One of the major criticisms by fans of the Saudi PLE is due to the horrible track record of the Saudi government when it comes to Women’s rights. The country has one of the most regressive track records when it comes to Women’s rights.
Between 2014 and 2019, female wrestlers were not allowed to perform in Saudi Arabia due to the country’s restrictions on women’s rights. Discrimination based on gender is very prevalent in the country. However, in recent times there has been a lot of progress in this regard but the Saudi government still needs to work a lot for the upliftment of Saudi women.
Another major issue the fans have with the WWE hosting events in the country is Saudi’s track record of Human Rights violations. The violations made global headlines after the killing of journalist Jama Khashoggi who was very critical of the Saudi regime.
The topic has also been a concern as the regime has targeted and executed many political protesters and opponents. The partnership has also faced criticism over Saudi Arabia’s poor human rights record including suppression of women’s and LGBT rights.
