The Ring General returned on Raw at MSG.

Amid speculations about his WrestleMania plans, ‘The Ring General’ Gunther made his return on WWE Raw in Madison Square Garden. He had originally been scheduled to face Rey Mysterio, who suffered an injury in January, prompting a creative change. The return transpired during the segment between Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins.

During the show, General Manager Adam Pearce informed Heyman that the Boston PD had dropped all charges against Rollins, who was arrested last week for violating the restraining order. Pearce also announced that Rollins was medically cleared to compete.

After the announcement, Rollins appeared in the ring, attacking Heyman with a steel chair, before lining him up on the steel chair for a curb stomp. However, before he could deliver the stomp, Rollins was dragged out of the ring.

The camera panned to show that it was Gunther who dragged Rollins out of the ring, before sinching in the sleeper hold and putting the Visionary to sleep. The Ring General then pointed to the WrestleMania sign, hinting at a potential clash at the ‘Grandest Stage.’

Later in the show, Pearce provided an update on Rollins’ condition, stating that he is medically cleared and itching to hand out a receipt. He then made the match between Rollins and the Ring General official for WrestleMania 42.

The announcement and the attack puzzled many fans, as before the show, PWInsider reported that Bron Breakker was backstage on Raw, leading many fans to believe Bron was returning to attack Rollins and set up the Mania clash.

However, it seems like Breakker isn’t medically cleared to compete after suffering a hernia injury in early February. That said, fans were still puzzled by the Ring General attacking Rollins out of nowhere, and a fan on X (Twitter) has floated a wild theory behind the attack.

Paul Heyman owes Gunther a favor?

Responding to the tweet to the Ring General attacking Rollins, a fan theorized that Gunther might have attacked Rollins as a favor to Paul Heyman, who, in turn, will get to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Even Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp loved the idea.

The Ring General has been rumored to face Lesnar at SummerSlam, which will emanate from Brock‘s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Lesnar is rumored to retire. The Ring General’s “Career Killer” gimmick further fuels these speculations.

That said, it is unclear whether this is just a theory or the actual intentions of Gunther behind the attack. WWE will likely unravel the mystery behind the attack on next week’s edition of Raw.

Regardless of the intention behind the attack, the clash between the two is surely guaranteed to deliver at WrestleMania.

Who is Seth Rollins set to face at WrestleMania 42?

Rollins will face Gunther in a singles match at the Grandest Stage.

When and where will WrestleMania 42 take place?

WrestleMania 42 will take place as a two-night event on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
