The Beast Incarnate left his gloves and boots in the ring at WrestleMania.
‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar suffered defeat in the clash against Oba Femi on Night 2 of WrestleMania 42. However, after the loss in a rare emotional moment, Lesnar, while fighting back tears, removes his gloves and boots, leaving them on the mat.
“Thank you, Brock,” chants erupted as Paul Heyman stepped in and Lesnar threw the X sign before embracing his Wiseman. The moment signalled Lesnar calling it a day on his iconic career after decades of dominance in the WWE ring.
However, WWE has not yet called it an outright retirement and is even hinting at what’s next for him, leaving many fans to wonder if he has actually retired. Additionally, WWE also aired a “career retrospective” video for him on last week’s Raw and SmackDown.
WWE also replaced Lesnar with Oba Femi in the “NOW” section of the signature intro, moving Lesnar to the “FOREVER” section at Paul Heyman’s request. Furthermore, earlier reports indicated that the internal belief within WWE is that Lesnar has not officially retired.
There is still no clarity over Brock Lesnar’s status

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, multiple people in WWE believe that it is not Lesnar’s “true” retirement. However, no one has confirmed the same.
Meltzer also said those involved were explicitly told to treat it as an angle. The direction came from the same sources that had indicated Seth Rollins’ injury last year was part of a storyline.
While reiterating the backstage belief that Lesnar will retire at SummerSlam 2026, the report also notes that creative decisions for Brock are typically kept secret for a reason.
SummerSlam 2026 emanates from Minneapolis, a city where Lesnar is billed from. That said, the report doesn’t conclusively state that Lesnar’s retirement is an angle.
