Donald Trump is a WWE Hall of Famer
WWE WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas is scheduled to include a lot of prominent non-wrestling figures, but it looks that Donald Trump will not be one of them.
The businessman turned politician has a lengthy association with the corporation. With The Show of Shows taking place in Sin City this year, speculations of Trump’s participation at the PLE have spread quickly.
However, a new research by Fightful Select calls into question its validity. They stated that the creative team was not made aware of the current US President’s appearance. Additional security measures that would be necessary for the same have also not been spotted around the venue.
“Regarding the possibility of Donald Trump appearing at WrestleMania after the heavy WWE endorsements this week, creative has not been told that it is happening, and we’ve not been told of anyone who has been informed to prepare for it. There are also additional security and planning measures that would need to be in place.”
The US President has appeared in WWE storylines over the years, and he was inducted into the celebrity wing of the Hall of Fame in 2013. He also appeared at UFC 314 earlier this month, which combined with the wrestling organization known as TKO last year.
Trump is notorious for his volatility, so an appearance cannot be fully ruled out. Although it is quite doubtful at this point. Donald Trump’s last physical appearance on WWE programming took place on April 3, 2009, during an episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
While the appearance itself was brief and tied to a storyline involving his fictional purchase of WWE from Vince McMahon, it served as a continuation of Trump’s long-standing relationship with the company.
However, Trump’s most iconic and unforgettable moment in WWE came at WrestleMania 23, held on April 1, 2007, in Detroit, Michigan. Billed as the “Battle of the Billionaires,” the match featured Trump in the corner of Bobby Lashley, while Vince McMahon backed Umaga.
WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon and Trump didn’t wrestle themselves, but the stakes were personal, whoever’s representative lost would get their head shaved bald.
Lashley ultimately defeated Umaga, and in front of a roaring crowd, Trump helped shave McMahon’s head bald in one of the most memorable moments in WrestleMania history.
The segment was a major mainstream attraction, drawing huge media attention and playing a pivotal role in WrestleMania 23 becoming one of the most commercially successful WrestleManias of all time.
