Nia Jax lost to Liv Morgan at WWE Crown Jewel 2024
Nia Jax won the Queen of the Ring tournament held in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to earn a shot for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. She defeated Bayley at the event and captured her second WWE title, kicking off a rather underwhelming title reign.
No disrespect to Nia Jax, as she has improved a lot in her second run, both in the ring and on the microphone, giving us a lot of really entertaining segments and matches.
However, the title reign itself has lacked good storylines so far. It has been just Bayley and Naomi taking turns at the champion, only to lose, as WWE is teasing the Tiffany Stratton cash-in during each of her title defenses.
At Crown Jewel, Nia Jax lost the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship to Liv Morgan owing to the shenanigans caused by Dominik Mysterio and Raquel Rodriguez. Once again, everyone expected Tiffany to cash in, but nothing really happened.
The entire hype around this title reign is about when Tiffany will finally cash in and dethrone Nia. People are just waiting for her to lose the championship, which isn’t a good thing if you want to stay relevant as the champion in the long term.
It seems like Nia Jax might lose her women’s championship sooner rather than later, but nevertheless, let’s look at five women who can challenge her for her championship after Crown Jewel 2024.
Naomi
Naomi was the last woman to have pinned Nia Jax on SmackDown and has repeatedly suggested to Nia Jax that she should keep the title warm and safe for her. This suggests she is next in line for a shot at the championship.
However, she clearly won’t be the one to dethrone Nia. She will just be another pawn who is there to extend the title reign before the eventual Stratton cash-in.
Jade Cargill
WWE has finally started to plant the seeds of a rift between Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair, with Liv Morgan mentioning last week that Bianca will stab Cargill in the back eventually. The RAW at the Saudi show ended up building for a tag team rivalry between Jade and Bianca and Liv and Raquel. This might lead to Liv becoming a double champion in the WWE by recapturing the tag team gold along with Raquel Rodriguez from the likes of Jade and Bianca Belair owing to miscommunication among those two.
Thereafter, Jade Cargill, who is very much a match for Nia Jax in terms of physical presence, may challenge her for the WWE Women’s Championship. Once again, Jade Cargill might lose at the event to Nia Jax due to miscommunications and distractions created intentionally or unintentionally by Bianca Belair, eventually leading to a breakup and WrestleMania showdown.
Bianca Belair
If not Jade Cargill, it can also be Bianca Belair who challenges Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship next, and Jade Cargill might be the one costing Bianca Belair her title shot either on purpose or unintentionally, depending on who WWE is planning to turn heel for their WrestleMania feud. They can also have Bianca Belair defeat Nia Jax for the championship and then have Jade Cargill turn on her to integrate the women’s championship into the WrestleMania feud as well.
This will make the match even bigger than it already is. But with Tiffany Stratton being the focal point of the blue brand with her Money in the Bank briefcase, I don’t think WWE would take away the moment of her finally cashing in on Nia Jax to become the WWE Women’s Champion, which WWE has been building for several months now. But Bianca Belair can very well be the next person to challenge Jax for the title after Naomi.
Raquel Rodriguez
The chances are low, but never none. Raquel Rodriguez had a big part to play in Jax losing the Crown Jewel Championship to Liv Morgan. Also, from a physical standpoint, she is one of the very few people that can match Nia Jax in the ring. Also, Rhea Ripley, who had just kicked off a rivalry with Raquel Rodriguez, has been written off television with a kayfabe injury, and WWE is planning an angle between Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair and Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the tag team championships.
This effectively puts The Judgement Day on both shows. Having that facilitates the development of a rivalry between Jax and Rodriguez as Nia Jax clearly has some unfinished business with her. I think the chances of a triple threat tag team rivalry between Bianca and Jade, Nia and Tiffany, and Liv and Raquel for the WWE Tag Team Championships is the more likely scenario, and it will elevate the women’s tag team championships to even greater heights.
But WWE might also toss a match between Raquel Rodriguez and Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship, as it is quite a dream match with two mammoths clashing, but even if it happens, it won’t lead to a title change, that’s for sure.
Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair has been out of action for the past eight months. The last time she was seen inside the ring was in December 2023, when she was competing against Asuka and tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus during the match. However, according to the latest reports, she is okay now and might make her return soon. And with the road to WrestleMania about to kick off in full effect, Charlotte Flair might come back to challenge Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship sooner rather than later.
It might even be at Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble. We all know she’s a Flair, and it’s impossible to keep her away from the
championship gold picture for too long. At the same time, if Tiffany Stratton cashes in her Money in the Bank briefcase in the middle of the match between Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair, pinning Jax to win the championship, it might also inadvertently set up a potential WrestleMania feud between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women’s Championship down the line once the rivalry between Stratton and Jax reaches its conclusion.
