WWE Money in the Bank is the next Premium Live Event.

TKO-led promotion WWE is nearing its next major Premium Live Event, Money in the Bank 2026. Over the years, the show has presented some of the most exhilarating in-ring action in WWE history.

At the same time, those matches have seen some memorable botches. Here is a look at five of those botches at the WWE Money in the Bank PLE:

5. Ricochet & Logan Paul’s crash

Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere

During the 2023 Money in the Bank ladder match, Ricochet and Logan Paul tried to deliver a Spanish Fly off the ropes through tables set up outside the ring.

However, both superstars lost their footing early and botched the launch, crashing awkwardly through the tables, but luckily they escaped without serious injury.

4. Damian Priest’s no kick-out

Damian Priest had challenged Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at the 2024 Money in the Bank PLE. The Visionary hit Priest with a Falcon Arrow and covered him.

Priest was supposed to kick out, but his shoulders stayed down, so the referee had to stop his arm from counting the third count to avoid an unbooked title change. Triple H later revealed that the count had to stop when Drew McIntyre arrived, but it didn’t because of a backstage delay in hitting his music.

3. Attack on Andrade’s jewels

In the 2025 Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, Andrade and El Grande Americano were brawling outside the ring.

Just then, a mishap led to a ladder hitting Andrade’s face, and then it ricocheted and hit him in the crotch area. Despite a major impact, he was still able to continue the match.

2. Sin Cara & Dolph Ziggler’s Spanish Fly

In the 2012 SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match, Sin Cara attempted a Spanish Fly. However, the masked luchador lost his grip, causing both WWE superstars to slip and crash into the mat. Ziggler went on to win the match to secure the MITB briefcase.

1. John Cena’s briefcase grab

The 17-time WWE World Champion John Cena created one of WWE’s most viral moments at the 2012 MITB event. He competed in the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

In the final moments of the bout, he and Big Show were atop the ladder. As Cena swung the briefcase to hit him, the handle snapped off the hook and fell straight into Cena’s hands, creating a memorable botch etched into WWE history.

What is the Money in the Bank match?

The MITB match is a multi-person ladder match in WWE in which competitors fight to retrieve a briefcase suspended above the ring. The briefcase contains a contract that guarantees the winner a championship match at any time and place of their choosing within the contract’s validity period.

When did the Money in the Bank match first begin in WWE?

The Money in the Bank ladder match first took place at WrestleMania 21 on April 3, 2005. Edge won the inaugural match.
