WWE 2K26: New commercials; release date & everything we know so far

Commercials for WWE 2K26 have already been filmed.
The Stamford-based promotion traditionally launches its annual video game, WWE 2K, during the Road to WrestleMania period, with the first teaser and cover star reveal typically unveiled on the grand stage of the Royal Rumble.
However, with no such update or report regarding the game, fans were speculating that there might be no release this year. Amid online rumors and speculations, a new report from Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has provided an update regarding the 2026 edition.
According to the report, the promotion already filmed the reveal commercial for WWE 2K26 back in December, with plans for the advertisement to air within the coming weeks. The report also indicates that the game is likely in the pre-marketing stage, before the final announcement is made.
Apart from the report, no additional details have been revealed regarding the game as fans eagerly await an official announcement. While the cover star and exact premiere date of the trailer remain unannounced, the first PLE of 2026, Royal Rumble, set for Saturday, January 31, in Saudi Arabia, looks like a potential stage for its debut.

WWE 2K25 recieved major positive reviews
Last year’s edition of the game was released on March 14, 2025, with Roman Reigns as the cover star. This edition marked the 25th entry in the series and the 11th under the WWE 2K brand.
The edition introduced a range of new modes, playable Superstars, and gameplay additions, highlighted by the debut of ‘The Island,’ a console-exclusive mode heavily modeled after NBA 2K’s The City. It was later expanded with a WWE 2K25 mobile version, developed in partnership with Netflix.
Since the franchise’s return in 2022 following a one-year break, new editions have consistently launched during the lead-up to WrestleMania.
2K Games has served as the publisher of the video game series since 2013, when Take-Two Interactive acquired the license after THQ filed for bankruptcy. Development duties have been handled by Visual Concepts since WWE 2K20, when the studio assumed control from YUKE’S.
When is WWE 2K26 releasing?
The official release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the game is expected to launch during the Road to WrestleMania period (early to mid-March), as is tradition for the series.
