CM Punk finally got the redemption he needed
The Strap Match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre at WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 was an intense, hard-hitting encounter that left both men battered and bruised.
The match began before the bell even rang, with McIntyre ambushing Punk during his entrance. They brawled around ringside before Drew strapped his wrist and whipped Punk while urging referee Rod Zapata to secure the strap on Punk’s wrist. McIntyre grew impatient and attached the strap to Punk himself, demanding the match start.
The bell rang, and the battle was on. Punk managed to hit a Go to Sleep early but chose not to attempt touching the turnbuckles, instead opting to continue his assault.
They fell to the floor, where Punk looked for weapons under the ring, but McIntyre intercepted him and bounced him off the announce desk. Drew attempted a double underhook on the desk, but Punk countered with a back body drop and whipped McIntyre with the strap.
Back inside the ring, McIntyre regained control, slamming Punk onto a steel chair, busting him open. McIntyre targeted the wound, hammering Punk with punches and headbutts.
Punk managed to send Drew crashing to the floor with a running bulldog and followed him outside, where he set up a table. However, McIntyre struck back with a Claymore, knocking Punk back inside the ring.
Drew touched three turnbuckles, but Punk slipped out to the floor, causing McIntyre to go face-first into a steel chair wedged in the corner.
Recovering quickly, Drew countered a bulldog with a powerbomb over the ropes and through the table set up outside. With Punk down, McIntyre began touching the turnbuckles again.
He managed to hit three of them, but Punk, touching them himself, stopped him just short of the fourth. Both men were desperate, reaching and stretching for the final turnbuckle.
After a series of Frye/Takayama-style punches, Punk blocked another Claymore with a kick and locked in a Sharpshooter. Though McIntyre tapped, the submission couldn’t end the match.
Punk dragged himself to touch two turnbuckles, but McIntyre yanked on the strap, hitting a neckbreaker to reset the count. Drew prepared for another Claymore, but Punk countered with a Go to Sleep, laying both men out.
With McIntyre down, Punk seized the moment. He touched three turnbuckles, and although he could have gone for the win, he chose to hit a fourth Go to Sleep on Drew to keep him down. With the path clear, Punk touched the final turnbuckle, securing his victory.
CM Punk wins the Strap Match by touching all four turnbuckles, emerging victorious in a brutal encounter that tested both men’s limits.
