The 12/29 WWE Chicago Holiday Tour emanated from the Allstate Arena

The next stop in WWE‘s 2024 Holiday Tour was CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois. The 12/29 live show of the holiday tour emanated from the Allstate Arena.

The Chicago show featured appearances from multiple top stars along with three title matches with the main event title clash being a steel cage match between ‘The Ring General’ Gunther and ‘The Second City Saint’ Gunther.

WWE New York Holiday Tour 12/26 Summary and Highlights

Seth Rollins vs Chad Gable

‘The Visionary’ Seth Rollins clashed with the leader of the American-Made faction Chad Gable in the first match of the live show in the Allstate Arena.

In the match’s final moments, Gable attempted a moonsault from the top rope, but Rollins rolled out of the way to land the iconic pedigree. The Visionary then followed it up with a brutal stomp from the top rope to pick up the win.

Liv Morgan (c) vs IYO SKY – WWE Women’s World Championship

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan defended her title on the live show against Damage CTRL’s member IYO SKY. Morgan was accompanied by her enforcer Raquel Rodriguez during the match.

Morgan defeated Sky in the second match of the evening to defend her title. She is scheduled to defend her title against Rhea Ripley in a last-woman standing match at the Monday Night Raw Netflix debut show on January 6.

The Wyatt Sicks vs The Final Testament

The Wyatt Sicks (Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, and Nikki Cross) locked horns with the Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Akom, and Rezar) in the third match of the live show. Paul Ellering was ringside to accompany the Final Testament.

The Wyatt Sicks faction emerged victorious against the Final Testament. The two factions are currently in a fierce feud.

LA Knight vs Santos Escobar

Former United States Champion LA Knight locked horns with the leader of Legado Del Fantasma Santos Escobar. Escobar was repping the Mexcian flag during his entrance.

The former United States Champion emerged victorious in the clash against Escobar. Knight recently lost the US title at the hand of Shinsuke Nakamura the Survivor Series 2024 PLE.

Bron Breakker vs Sami Zayn – WWE Intercontinental Championship

Bron Breakker defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn in a two out of three falls match in the fifth match of the live show.

In the final moments of the clash, Zayn was looking for the finish as he climbed to the top rope to attempt a splash. However, Breakker intercepted the attack in mid-air to land the devastating spear and pick up the win via pinfall.

Kofi Kingston vs Otis

New Day’s Kofi Kingston locked horns in his Chicago with Alpha Academy’s Otis, Kingston was accompanied by Xavier Woods. Woods and Kingston also had a beef to pick with the production table as they played the New Day music during their entrance.

Kingston emerged victorious against Otis in the sixth match of the live show. The crowd reacted similarly to the rest of the WWE fandom since Woods and Kingston turned on Big E.

Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio

In the co-main event of the Chicago Holiday Tour, WWE legend Rey Mysterio faced off against his son, Dominik Mysterio, in a highly anticipated showdown. This father-son rivalry has been marked by deep animosity, with Dominik turning against his father and aligning himself with Judgment Day.

Rey emerged victorious against Dominik in the co-main event and celebrated his victory with the Chicago crowd. The arena erupted in cheers as the WWE legend rallied the crowd.

Gunther vs CM Punk – WWE World Heavyweight Championship

‘The Ring General’ Gunther defended the World Heavyweight Championship in a highly anticipated steel cage match against Chicago’s own CM Punk.

The Ring General retained the title against Punk due to the interference of Dominik Mysterio who interfered during the match and attacked Punk with the steel cage gate when he was trying to exit the cage in order to win the match.

The two stars put on an instant classic in the main event for the Chicago crowd until Dirty Dom spoiled the fun for everybody.

After the main event, a brawl broke out involving CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, LA Knight, and Otis on one side and Dominik Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Santos Escobar.

Santos, Kofi, and Woods came out after the main event to attack Punk, but Rey, Otis, and LA Knight rushed down to his aid, leading to a chaotic brawl. In the end, Punk’s faction stood tall as they thanked the Chicago crowd.

The Second City Saint stayed long after the show to meet fans, taking pictures and signing autographs with his hometown supporters.
