The rising star overcame Becky Lynch’s veteran tactics and survived a back-and-forth thriller to capture the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship in Turin.

A new era began in the Women’s Intercontinental Championship division at WWE Clash in Italy as Sol Ruca scored the biggest victory of her career.

The challenger defeated Becky Lynch in a highly competitive contest to become the new champion, ending Lynch’s reign after a dramatic battle filled with momentum swings, submission counters, and near falls.

The match showcased the contrast between Lynch’s experience and Ruca’s athleticism. While the champion attempted to use every trick available to maintain her grip on the title, Ruca refused to be intimidated and continuously found ways to counter the veteran’s offense.

By the end of the night, the young challenger had overcome one of WWE’s most accomplished competitors and firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars in the women’s division.

Sol Ruca withstands Becky Lynch’s veteran tactics

Lynch attempted to gain an immediate advantage by launching a cheap shot before the match could properly settle in. However, Ruca saw it coming and answered with a thunderous lariat. The champion quickly retreated to the apron, clearly frustrated by the challenger’s fast start.

Ruca continued to impress with a revolution back suplex facebuster, a surfboard stomp into the turnbuckles, and a standing moonsault that nearly ended the match early. She also targeted Lynch’s arm with an arm wringer, looking to limit the champion’s offense.

Becky eventually shifted the momentum by sending Ruca to the floor with a lariat before connecting with a baseball slide. Yet the challenger remained one step ahead, countering a back body drop attempt into a handstand before skinning the cat and forcing Lynch to punch the ring post. Moments later, Ruca thrilled the crowd with an Orihara Moonsault to the outside.

The champion responded with her trademark aggression. Lynch delivered heavy strikes, a diving punch from the apron, and a diving leg drop for a near fall. Afterwards, she confronted referee Jessika Carr, accusing her of delivering a slow count as frustration began to set in.

Sol Snatcher delivers championship glory

As the match progressed, both women traded increasingly desperate attacks. Ruca fired back with a corkscrew uppercut, a German suplex out of the corner, and a missile dropkick before nearly securing the title with a Knee Trembler.

The contest then evolved into a technical chess match. Becky countered a Sol Snatcher attempt into an armbar, only for Ruca to escape and transition into an STF. Lynch broke free and immediately applied the Dis-Arm-Her, but Ruca continued to counter every move thrown her way.

A series of rapid near falls followed, keeping the Turin crowd on edge. Lynch scored another close call with an inverted DDT before becoming distracted by referee Jessika Carr once again. Moments later, Ruca delivered a stunning avalanche X-Factor from the top rope, but even that was not enough to finish the champion.

The closing stretch featured some of the match’s most dramatic moments. Ruca connected with a spectacular Space Flying Tiger Drop before narrowly missing a springboard 450 splash. Lynch capitalized with a Manhandle Slam, yet the challenger somehow kicked out.

The champion looked increasingly desperate as the match slipped away. In a remarkable sequence, Ruca even planted Lynch with her own Manhandle Slam, but the title still refused to change hands.

Finally, after evading another Manhandle Slam attempt by moving onto the second rope, Ruca created the opening she needed. The challenger exploded into action, connected with the Sol Snatcher, and secured the decisive three-count to complete the upset victory.

The result crowned Sol Ruca as the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion and marked a career-defining moment for one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars.

Result: Sol Ruca def. Becky Lynch via pinfall to become the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
