CM Punk is referred to by many interesting nicknames in the world of professional wrestling.

CM Punk is credited as one of the biggest yet most controversial WWE superstars of all time. The young kid from Chicago, Illinois, came from the Indies and worked his way to become a mega-star of the business. His career has been etched by multiple championships and accolades. Even after being away from the wrestling world for almost a decade, the fans never forget CM Punk. They chanted his name across arenas, shows and other places keeping his presence very much alive. Punk, on the other hand, after being away from WWE for ten years, made a triumphant return to the company in 2023.

Moreover, in his illustrious two-decade-long career, Punk has earned many nicknames in the business. While some came from the early beginnings, others were the ones he cemented himself as. Furthermore, CM Punk is among the few WWE superstars to have been referred to by many names by fans all across the globe. Here is a look back at CM Punk’s nicknames over the years:

Chick Magnet Punk

This was the origin of Phil Brooks’s wrestling persona name, CM Punk. As many have always wondered about the ‘CM’ in his ring name, he initially started it as ‘Chick Magnet’ Punk. The former WWE Champion claimed himself to be a popular figure among female fans. However, the full form never caught up with the mainstream, and fans also never bothered to find out the actual origins of CM in his ring name.

Second City Saint

CM Punk is from Chicago, Illinois. The city is widely popular as the ‘Second City’ in the United States and has played a huge part in Punk’s rise as a top wrestling star. Therefore, as he progressed in his career, Punk got the name to signify his origins in Chicago and its culture.

Straight Edge Superstar

It has been a wide known fact in the wrestling world that CM Punk follows the Straight Edge lifestyle. It means he is not into smoking, alcohol drinking and substance use. Moreover, his nickname made people more aware of his lifestyle choice while becoming heavily associated with him for his entire career. This also led to him forming his popular stable, called ‘The Straight Edge Society’ alongside Luke Gallows, Joey Mercury and Serena Deeb.

Paul Heyman Guy

CM Punk has cited Paul Heyman to be a huge driving force in his career. In fact, during his controversial Pipebomb promo, Punk called himself a “Paul Heyman Guy.” The duo would become an official wrestler-manager duo in 2012 after he turned heel. They would continue to run together until 2013, when Punk chose to go his own way. Moreover, in recent memory, Heyman enlisted Punk’s help to join the OG Bloodline for the War Games match against Solo Sikoa‘s new Bloodline.

Chicago Made Punk

When CM Punk ascended to main event status in 2011, it was majorly due to the fans’ massive support for him. Moreover, one of the biggest highlights of his career was beating John Cena in his hometown of Chicago to win the WWE title and flee with it as his contract with WWE had expired later that night. This was the night fan signs said ‘Chicago Made Punk, ‘ which symbolizes the importance of his hometown fans in his wrestling career.

Voice of the Voiceless

During CM Punk’s meteoric rise in 2011, he claimed himself to be the ‘Voice of the Voiceless.’ Punk’s nickname was a clear statement to stand for every individual in WWE who did not have a voice to raise for equal opportunities and became highly popular among the fanbase, being perceived as a savior of the masses.

Best in the World

The first time ever CM Punk called himself ‘The Best in the World’ was during his infamous Pipebomb in 2011. He claimed that he was better than every other WWE superstar in the ring, on the microphone and even on commentary, calling himself ‘Untouchable.’ The Pipebomb and the nickname was the start point of his ascension as one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time.
