Gunther & Cody Rhodes faced for the WWE Men’s Crown Jewel Championship
WWE Crown Jewel 2024 wrapped up in a high-stakes main event, where Cody Rhodes and Gunther battled for the inaugural WWE Men’s Crown Jewel Championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fans were in for a thrilling showdown, as two of WWE’s premier talents faced off in a match that delivered on all fronts.
The entrances alone built massive anticipation. Gunther, the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion, made his way to the ring with a confident intensity, while Cody Rhodes received a massive ovation from the crowd, who sang along to his theme song.
As the bell rang, both competitors engaged in a classic lock-up, with Gunther showcasing his strength and technical ability. The Austrian powerhouse took control with heavy strikes, shoulder tackles, and relentless holds, but Rhodes repeatedly fought back, refusing to stay down.
In the early minutes, Gunther used his brute power, delivering thunderous chops and focusing on weakening Rhodes’ arms and back. Rhodes, showing his resilience, countered with punches, a Disaster Kick, and even a Cody Cutter that brought the fans to their feet. However, every time Rhodes gained momentum, Gunther found a way to regain control, eventually locking in a Boston Crab and later a Sleeper Hold, pushing Rhodes to his limits.

In a final sequence that had the crowd on the edge of their seats, Rhodes attempted a super cutter, only for Gunther to counter once again into a Sleeper Hold. Rhodes, desperate and resilient, managed to roll through the hold and caught Gunther off guard with a pinning combination, securing the three-count and the victory. With that, Cody Rhodes was crowned the first-ever WWE Men’s Crown Jewel Champion.
Following the hard-fought bout, Gunther showed his respect for Rhodes, shaking his hand in a moment of sportsmanship. WWE executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Saudi dignitaries entered the ring to officially present the title to Rhodes, who held the belt high, his chest battered but his spirit victorious.
Cody Rhodes’ win marks a major milestone in his WWE career, adding to his family legacy and further establishing his standing as a top star in the company. The Riyadh crowd celebrated as Rhodes lifted the title, closing out WWE Crown Jewel 2024 with a historic and emotional victory.
