Friends turned enemies faced at WWE Crown Jewel 2024
The intense rivalry between Randy Orton and Kevin Owens reached its boiling point at WWE Crown Jewel 2024, as these two fierce competitors went head-to-head in one of the most anticipated non-title matches of the night.
The journey to their bout was anything but smooth, with former friends now turned bitter enemies. The tension in the air was palpable as both men prepared to clash in Riyadh.
Kevin Owens was the first to make his entrance, stepping out to the ring with a sly jab at Orton by wearing a “Cowboy” Bob Orton t-shirt, honoring Randy’s legendary father.
The mind games continued as Owens soaked in the crowd’s mixed reaction. Randy Orton’s entrance followed, with the Riyadh fans erupting as they passionately sang along to his iconic theme, especially chanting, “They talk to me!”
But before Orton could finish his signature entrance pose on the ropes, Owens blindsided him, using a steel chair to viciously target Orton’s leg, taking out “The Viper” in brutal fashion. The sneak attack spilled out of the ring, with Owens mercilessly pummeling Orton at ringside.
He then cleared the commentary table, seemingly ready to end things before the match even began. Orton, however, fought back, countering Owens by slamming him onto the announce table, reminding everyone why he’s one of the most resilient competitors in WWE.
The chaos continued inside the ring. Owens stunned the referee before the bell officially rang, leaving no one in control as the two rivals tore into each other. Owens grabbed a chair, but Orton, even while nursing an injured knee, managed to wrest it from his hands and retaliated with powerful chair shots to Owens’ back.
Officials attempted to restore order, signaling that the match could not proceed. But Orton and Owens disregarded all attempts to stop them, hurling officials aside as they brawled into the crowd.
Owens delivered a devastating blow, smashing Orton with a piece of equipment and, in a shocking display, launched himself off a balcony to put Orton through a table below. The two left the arena in pandemonium, with no clear winner.
As the dust settled, it was clear that neither man emerged victorious, and the match was declared a no-contest.
