The young WWE fan inspired Charlotte Flair and thousands of others during her courageous battle with a rare form of brain cancer.
The WWE community is mourning the loss of Scarlett Guillen, the young fan whose inspiring friendship with Charlotte Flair touched audiences around the world. Scarlett passed away at the age of eight following a courageous battle with diffuse midline glioma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
Her family confirmed the heartbreaking news through their GoFundMe campaign on Sunday, bringing to an end a journey that inspired countless wrestling fans and members of the WWE Universe.
Scarlett became widely known through her close friendship with Charlotte Flair, a relationship that WWE highlighted in the documentary More Than a Fan: The Story of Charlotte Flair and Scarlett, which explored the profound impact they had on each other’s lives.
Scarlett Guillen’s bond with Charlotte Flair became much more than fandom
Scarlett’s journey began long before the documentary. According to her family, she was diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma at just five years old after doctors discovered a brain mass during a CT scan.
“They told us we only had about six to nine months left with her, and to go home and make memories,” Scarlett’s mother recalled in the documentary.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Scarlett continued to fight with remarkable strength while undergoing chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and frequent hospital visits.
Her father described his daughter as “a superstar,” praising the way she continued smiling and inspiring those around her throughout her treatment.
Scarlett’s love for WWE began during WrestleMania 39 in 2023 when she first saw Charlotte Flair on television. Curious about the superstar, Scarlett asked who she was, prompting her sister to proudly respond that Flair was “The Queen of WWE.” That admiration eventually turned into a genuine friendship.
While recovering from a torn ACL in 2024, Flair received a message from a WWE social media producer explaining that a young fan hoped to meet her. Their first interaction happened over FaceTime, but it quickly grew into regular conversations and text messages.
Flair later invited Scarlett and her family to WrestleMania, where they met in person for the first time and formed a lasting bond.
Charlotte Flair says Scarlett changed her life forever
Scarlett’s creativity also left a lasting mark on WWE programming. She designed Charlotte Flair’s ring gear for Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, while Flair dedicated her WrestleMania 42 entrance to Scarlett and her ongoing battle with cancer.
Reflecting on their friendship in WWE’s documentary, Flair admitted Scarlett completely changed her outlook on life.
“Even in the short time that I have known them, she has changed my life and my perspective.”
She later added:
“The magic I’m getting back is knowing that when someone wants my time, I’m giving it to them.”
Following Scarlett’s passing, Flair shared an emotional tribute on social media, writing that Scarlett had taught her “courage, gratitude, joy, and how precious every single moment truly is.”
Addressing Scarlett’s parents, Kim and Isiah, Flair said witnessing the love they showed their daughter throughout her illness had “forever changed” her perspective. Speaking directly to Scarlett, she wrote that her life would never be measured by its length, but by the love and inspiration she left behind.
The family’s GoFundMe remembered Scarlett as “strong, determined, silly, and full of love,” adding that she had “a contagious laugh and a smile that could brighten even the darkest days.”
Though her life was tragically short, Scarlett Guillen’s courage, kindness and unwavering spirit left an unforgettable impact on Charlotte Flair, the WWE community and everyone who followed her remarkable journey.
