The OTC has been absent from WWE programming since Raw after WrestleMania 41.

‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns has been absent from WWE programming since Raw after WrestleMania 41, where he tried to confront Paul Heyman for betraying him. However, Reigns suffered a beatdown, courtesy of Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman’s henchman, Bron Breakker.

Paul Heyman betrayed Reigns and aligned with Rollins during the triple threat match between him, Rollins, and CM Punk in the main event of WrestleMania 41 (Saturday). Since his absence, fans have speculated about his return, which seemed possible on multiple occasions.

Roman Reigns is set to receive a new name upon his return

According to a new report from WrestleVotes, WWE’s “leading idea” for Reigns’ return is to use “the moniker ‘OTC1’ or ‘Tribal Chief One.’” Votes once again also noted that Reigns is expected to be back for SummerSlam.

The 2025 edition of SummerSlam will take place over two nights, on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Fans react furiously to the unnecessary change

Following the tweet by WrestleVotes on X (Twitter) about the report, many WWE fans reacted furiously to the planned change, labelling it unnecessary and pointing out that Reigns’ existing moniker is much better.

Many fans have also started speculating that if Reigns is “OTC 1,” then the identity of “OTC 2” might be. Some have even pointed to Solo Sikoa as a potential candidate for the role of “OTC 2.”

Roman Reigns might interfere in Seth Rollins’ match at WWE SNME

Seth Rollins is currently set to battle LA Knight in a singles match at the upcoming edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The July 12 edition of SNME will take place on July 12, 2025, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, the promotion will also deliver the second edition of the all-women’s PLE, Evolution, from the same venue.

The match was set following their brawl on the Raw fallout show from Night of Champions, where Knight returned, attacking Rollins for the recent run-ins and interferences by his henchmen, one of which forced him out of action for a few weeks.

Many fans are speculating that Reigns to make his return during the match and cost Seth the match, reigniting the feud, which would likely culminate in a clash at SummerSlam. WWE might also pair CM Punk and Reigns in a tag team against Rollins and Seth, costing Punk again at Night of Champions, which might be used to set the stage for this tag team clash at SummerSlam.

No matter which direction WWE takes with the storyline, one thing is certain: fans are in for an unforgettable ride with the return of one of the biggest superstars.
