Ronda Rousey was last seen on WWE TV in 2023!
Former multi-time WWE World Champion Ronda Rousey has been away from not just WWE but pro wrestling since 2023. The last time she competed in a WWE ring was in August 2023, following which she announced her retirement via her Instagram in October.
The Judoka was involved in a storyline with fellow former MMA fighter Shayna Baszler, where the two battled at the 2023 SummerSlam with Baszler defeating Rousey with a technical submission in an MMA rules match.
This was Rousey’s first WWE loss by submission, it was also the final storyline and match of her career with the Stamford-based promotion. The two stars had a lot of history together, from training together in MMA to consistently speaking highly of each other in interviews, the two stars.
Nevertheless, after her WWE exit, Rousey came out of retirement and teamed up with Marina Shafir to defeat her trainer, Brian Kendrick, and Taya Valkyrie at a Lucha VaVoom event. Ronda also appeared in Wrestling Revolver (REVOLVER), making her debut alongside Marina Shafir in a match against Athena and Billie Starkz.
At the ROH Honor Club TV tapings in October, Rousey made her Ring of Honor (ROH) debut, teaming with Shafir once again to defeat Athena and Starkz in a rematch. Since then, she has been away from the pro wrestling game and has been focusing on her family and personal life.
WWE might bring Shayna Baszler back after firing her last week
Bryan Alvarez via WOL, reported that the Stamford-based promotion still wants to work with Rousey, and there is a chance that if Rousey returns and wants Shayna Baszler back, the promotion will likely bring back Baszler.
“WWE does still want to do something with Ronda Rousey. Shayna Baszler obviously retired Ronda Rousey, or at least her last match in WWE. So I could not say that there’s no chance we’ll never see Shayna Baszler again.
I cannot say we’ll never see Shayna again because if WWE makes a deal with Ronda and Ronda wants Shayna back, she’ll be back.”
Baszler was among the plethora of stars that were released by the promotion last week, ending her 8-year tenure with the company. Baszler reacted to the loss, stating, “No one can offer what I have to offer. Reality. Let the Galaxy burn.” She also reposted Xavier Woods and Michin’s post appreciating Baszler and the friendship they shared.
Rousey can be seen back in training in mixed martial arts after the birth of her second daughter, she uploads the training footage on her Instagram account. Ronda is the only woman to become a champion in both the UFC and WWE as well as the only woman to headline a pay-per-view event in both companies.
Rousey’s MMA career was equally impressive as she was the Women’s Bantamweight Champion, defending the title six times in dominant fashion. Her title defenses saw utter mayhem with Rousey shattering and creating multiple records in the process, she is also one of the pioneers of Women’s MMA in the UFC.
