Court filing reveals the couple has separated, with Takecia seeking custody, alimony, and division of assets.

Jey Uso and his wife, Takecia Fatu, are ending their marriage after more than a decade together. According to a report from TMZ, Takecia filed for divorce on June 24 in Fayette County, Georgia, bringing an end to a relationship that began long before Jey Uso became one of WWE’s biggest stars.

Court documents state that the couple’s marriage is “irretrievably broken” and that there are “no prospects for a reconciliation.” The filing also notes that the two are “presently living in a bona fide state of separation.”

The couple married on February 13, 2014, after first meeting as high school sweethearts while attending Escambia High School in Florida.

Divorce filing outlines custody and financial requests

According to the filing, Takecia is seeking primary physical custody and joint legal custody of the couple’s teenage son, Jeyce.

She has also requested “a lump sum and/or periodic alimony,” along with an equal division of marital assets accumulated during their marriage.

In addition, Takecia is asking the court to grant her “exclusive use and possession” of the couple’s Georgia mansion while the divorce proceedings continue.

At the time of publication, Jey Uso has not publicly addressed the divorce filing or responded to the legal claims.

However, shortly after TMZ’s report became public, the WWE star posted a brief and cryptic message on his Instagram Story.

“I’m a grown a* man.”*

The post did not reference the divorce directly, leaving fans to speculate about its meaning.

Long before news of the divorce emerged, Jey Uso frequently spoke about the important role Takecia played throughout his wrestling career. During a WWE Chronicle documentary in 2020, he described her as far more than just his partner at home.

“I have so much love and respect for her in my heart… She catches the good and the bad, all the hurt and grumpiness of this business and life.”

Jey also praised the sacrifices they made together while he pursued a career in WWE.

“But she gets me ready for this, every single week, and she has for the past 10 years. We’ve sacrificed together.”

He concluded by acknowledging that every achievement he earned belonged to both of them.

“All my success is her success, too. We’ve done this together.”

Since making his WWE debut in 2010 alongside his twin brother, Jimmy Uso, Jey has established himself as one of the company’s most accomplished performers.

As part of The Usos, the brothers became one of WWE’s most decorated tag teams, capturing multiple championship reigns. Jey later enjoyed considerable singles success, winning the Intercontinental Championship, the 2025 Royal Rumble and, eventually, defeating Gunther to capture the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41.

While the divorce proceedings continue, neither Jey Uso nor Takecia Fatu has publicly commented further beyond the legal filing and Jey’s brief social media message.

Why is Jey Uso’s wife filing for divorce?

According to court documents, Takecia Fatu stated that the marriage is “irretrievably broken” and that there are no prospects for reconciliation.

How long were Jey Uso and Takecia Fatu married?

The couple married on February 13, 2014, and were together for more than 12 years after first meeting as high school sweethearts.
