The news of Hulk Hogan’s passing has sent shockwaves through the wrestling world, as fans and WWE legends alike share heartfelt tributes to the Immortal. Hogan passed away at the age of 71 yesterday following a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida.
From the current Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Ric Flair, Vince McMahon, and many others have paid heartfelt tributes to the iconic WWE Hall of Famer.
Hulk Hogan was The Rock’s childhood hero
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson recently took to his Instagram handle to pay tribute to the legend. The Rock wrote a long and heartfelt note, stating that Hogan was a childhood hero for millions, including him.
“Rest in Peace, Terry Bollea aka The Immortal Hulk Hogan 🕊️💐 To millions of little kids you were a childhood hero – myself included.”
Johnson also mentioned the WrestleMania X8 main event clash, where he battled “one of my wrestling heroes”. The post also has the video of their Mania X8 clash.
The 17-time WWE World Champion, John Cena, paid tribute to the legend in his own unique way. He posted an image of Hogan battling Andre the Giant.
The Undertaker praised Hogan’s immense contributions to the wrestling industry, sharing a photo of the two in the squared circle along with a candid backstage moment between them.
“The wrestling world has lost a true legend. His contributions to our business are immeasurable and for that I am appreciative. Thank you, Hulk Hogan,”
Ric Flair broke down in tears while remembering his good friend
Ric Flair spoke to TMZ after Hogan’s death and was unable to hold back tears remembering his good friend. Flair revealed that he had just talked with Hulk’s former manager, Jimmy Hart, on Wednesday and Hart ensured Hogan “was fine.” Flair also paid tribute to Hogan via his X handle, noting how Hulk was by his side since the two started in the wrestling business.
WWE CCO Triple H and former CEO Vince McMahon also reacted to the news. McMahon called Hogan “the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME”, while Triple H noted how Hogan was a larger-than-life figure who defined what it meant to be a WWE Superstar.
WWE is planning a tribute for the Hall of Famer
According to TC at WrestleVotes, WWE departments were told to halt their current projects and focus on Hulk Hogan-related tasks. The report adds that fans can expect a heavy social media presence dedicated to Hogan this week.
