WWE main event helps to utilize the underutilized stars

The hour-long WWE main event, which debuted on October 3, 2012, featured mid- to low-card performers from WWE’s Raw brand, as well as many NXT members.

Main Event is filmed on Monday nights before WWE Raw. Episodes typically consist of two fights (one for males, one for women). In the United States, new episodes of Main Event run on Hulu on Thursdays; it was formerly broadcast on Ion Television until April 2014. It is also televised by WWE’s international television partners.

WWE saw the show as a spiritual successor to WWE Superstars (which aired on WGN America until 2011, before moving to WWE’s digital outlets in the United States). Hulu also acquired the series as part of a larger agreement that included video-on-demand rights to WWE’s important weekly shows.

Ion Television dropped the series in April 2014, and WWE aired a live episode of Main Event from Detroit on its then-new subscription service WWE Network. It was reported to be a stress test for live events on the service leading up to WrestleMania X.

Before November 28, 2016, the big event was taped before SmackDown. It was eventually changed to Raw with the introduction of WWE Network’s 205 Live, which aired live after SmackDown from the same location.

The Main Event bouts for this week were filmed before RAW on Monday night in The O2 Arena, London and will be shown on Hulu on Thursday.
