Lex Luger is one of the WWE Hall of Fame inductees this year

Lex Luger hopes Sting will induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame next month, but that is far from guaranteed.

According to Fightful Select, Luger and people close to him told WWE on Wednesday that his longtime tag team partner would be his “preferred choice” to induct him over the WrestleMania 41 weekend in Vegas. Sting will be in Las Vegas this week for a variety of non-WWE activities and events.

However, Sting is still under contract with AEW in some capacity, and it is anticipated they will have to approve the appearance. It is unclear whether they have been approached by WWE to do so, but Fightful Select also stated that “WWE was planning to make overtures if they hadn’t already about making that happen.”

Sting retired as a champion at Revolution in March 2024, having successfully defended the AEW Tag Team championships against the Young Bucks. WWE requested that Luger not be visible on camera, which he agreed to. The 66-year-old has a WWE Legends contract.

Luger and Sting were friends and opponents throughout their careers, and in 1996, they held the WCW World Tag Team championships for 156 days. They last shared a ring together at a TNA pay-per-view in 2003, when they were on opposite ends of a tag team match.

Sting was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. Luger, Triple H, and Michelle McCool have been officially announced for the event, which will be held on Friday, April 18th at 1 AM Eastern/10 PM Pacific at the BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas.

Will Sting induct Lex Luuger it is to be seen, with his AEW commitments & WWE history, it will be interesting to see whether “The Icon” will induct Luger or not. Do let us know in the comments what your thoughts on Lex Luger’s induction into WWE Hall of Fame.
