WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results: Cody Rhodes pins Randy Orton to become King of the Ring

Cody Rhodes has added another major accolade to his WWE legacy, defeating Randy Orton in a gripping King of the Ring 2025 final to earn a SummerSlam title shot.
In a hard-fought opener to WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh, Rhodes overcame his longtime mentor and rival in a bout that was as personal as it was physical.
Back-and-forth action keeps the crowd on edge
The match started with a collar-and-elbow tie-up before Cody Rhodes seized early control with a bulldog and a near fall. Randy Orton responded with a high-impact superplex from the top rope, only for Rhodes to recover and level him with a Disaster Kick.
As the two continued trading momentum, Randy Orton turned the tide with a series of signature clotheslines and a scoop powerslam.
Cody Rhodes continued targeting Ortonâs back, at one point wrenching it against the ring post. Randy Orton responded with a hanging DDT and set up for the RKO, only for Rhodes to counter into a Cross-Rhodes for a near fall. The crowd in Saudi Arabia roared in disbelief as both men refused to stay down.

In one of the matchâs standout sequences, Randy Orton nailed an RKO that looked to seal the win, but Cody Rhodes kicked out yet again.
Rhodes was locked in a Figure Four Leg Lock, only for Orton to reverse it into a Figure Eight, adding a psychological edge by using a submission more associated with Ric Flair and Charlotte. Rhodes reversed it, but Orton broke the hold by reaching the ropes.
The closing stretch saw both men empty their tanks. Orton countered another Disaster Kick into a second RKO, but still couldnât put Rhodes away. In desperation, Orton grabbed a steel chair, but the referee quickly intervened. In the chaos, Orton exposed the top turnbuckle, hoping to use it to his advantage.

However, it was Rhodes who outsmarted The Viper. He reversed Ortonâs attempt to send him into the exposed steel, instead launching Orton armpit-first into the turnbuckle. With Orton reeling, Rhodes capitalized with a decisive Cross-Rhodes to score the win.
With this victory, Cody Rhodes becomes the 2025 King of the Ring and officially earns a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Whether itâs John Cena or CM Punk who walks out of Night of Champions as champion, they now know who awaits them.
