Sami Zayn grabs the win at WWE Night of Champions 2025
In one of the most hard-fought matches of the night, Sami Zayn overcame the brutality of Karrion Kross at WWE Night of Champions 2025.
The former WWE Undisputed Champion battled from underneath, withstanding punishing offense and mind games from both Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux before scoring a dramatic come-from-behind win in Riyadh.
Sami Zayn & Karrion Kross playing mind games
The match began with a classic collar-and-elbow tie-up, both men jockeying for control. Sami Zayn backed away cleanly, but Karrion Kross responded with aggressive strikes.
As tempers flared, Zayn fired back with punches, sending Kross to the outside with a clothesline. The Montreal native faked out an Arabian press to taunt his opponent, but Scarlett whispered in Kross’ ear, shifting the momentum.
Kross then ambushed Zayn ringside, landing stiff boots before being countered with a dazzling moonsault off the barricade.
Inside the ring, Kross dropped Zayn with a cradle exploder suplex and corner-mounted strikes, wearing down the fan-favorite. He positioned Zayn in the Tree of Woe and berated him as a “liar,” a recurring theme of the feud. Zayn escaped and began to mount his comeback.
Near-falls and signature exchanges
Sami Zayn connected with a springboard leap and a huge lariat to finally ground Karrion Kross. A flurry of punches and chops in the corner followed, before he missed a top-rope attack. Kross capitalized with an Attitude Adjustment-like slam for a close near-fall.
Momentum seesawed as Zayn narrowly escaped a Saito suplex and hit the Blue Thunder Driver for a razor-close two-count.
Kross returned fire with German suplexes and a Krossjacket submission, almost putting Zayn to sleep. Referee Aja Perera checked Zayn’s arm, it dropped twice, but the resilient babyface powered through.
Sami Zayn pulls off miracle finish
Desperately clawing toward the ropes, Sami Zayn finally broke the hold. Karrion Kross, enraged, hammered him with three vicious lariats and demanded Zayn admit he was a liar. But on the third charge, Sami exploded with a Helluva Kick out of nowhere.
With one final gasp of energy, Zayn made the cover and scored the victory via pinfall. It was a hard-earned win for Sami Zayn, who proved once again that heart and resolve can overcome even the most sadistic of opponents.
Karrion Kross, for all his dominance, fell victim to Zayn’s refusal to quit, a defining trait that continues to make him one of WWE’s most beloved underdogs.
Winner: Sami Zayn
