WWE NXT Battleground 2024: New title matches confirmed, everything you need to know about the PLE

Some very talented superstars have been included on the match card for the PLE

As previously announced, Oba Femi will defend his North American title at the NXT Battleground 2024 premium live event. The two challengers for this championship battle were announced on this week’s NXT, which also featured a triple-threat contender match between Wes Lee, Josh Briggs, and Joe Coffey.

Gallus assaulted Josh Briggs during the Triple Threat Match, knocking Briggs out of the ring, while Wes Lee was taken down by Joe Coffey’s discus lariat. Lee and Coffey collapsed on Briggs’ prone body, resulting in a double pin and both men won the bout.

Later on the broadcast, WWE NXT General Manager Ava Raine confirmed that Coffey and Lee will face Femi in a Triple Threat match at NXT Battleground 2024. Ivar was expected to fight in the contender’s bout, but he is out due to an injury, thus Coffey has been named his substitute. Femi has been the NXT North American Champion since January 9th, when he defeated Dragon Lee on NXT.

In other NXT Battleground 2024 news, Fallon Henley and Jaida Parker won their qualifying bouts against Thea Hail and Brinley Reece on last night’s NXT, advancing to the six-pack ladder match to crown the first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion.

Following NXT, Parker and Henley joined Lash Legend and Sol Ruca, who qualified for last week’s program after winning their qualifying. NXT Battleground 2024 will also feature a Women’s Title Match, with Roxanne Perez defending her title, however, the opponent will be announced on May 28.

WWE NXT Champion Trick Williams will compete in a tag team fight, and famous rapper Sexyy Red will also perform in the evening.

NXT North American Championship Match: Oba Femi vs Wes Lee vs Joe Coffey

Oba Femi will defend his NXT North American Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Wes Lee and Joe Coffey. Lee returns to NXT after missing nearly six months due to an injury, and the former North American Champion is looking to recover his crown.

On the May 14 edition of NXT, Coffey and the rest of Gallus made their victorious comeback by defeating Lee, Ivar, and Josh Briggs. The next week, Lee, Briggs, and Coffey (who replaced an injured Ivar) competed in a No. 1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match, but Lee and Coffey pinned Briggs at the same time, prompting another Triple Threat Match, this time for the championship.

NXT Underground Match: Shayna Baszler vs Lola Vice

Shayna Baszler will face Lola Vice in an NXT Underground Match inside The UFC Apex. Baszler and Vice had a great relationship for a while, but it dissolved after the former two-time NXT Women’s Champion got dissatisfied with Vice’s dancing, resulting in a massive brawl between the two Superstars on the May 21 edition of NXT.

Both Superstars have MMA backgrounds, so they’ll settle their differences in a grueling NXT Underground Match in which the only way to win is to knock out or submit your opponent.
