Layla Diggs is out of the North American title match.
WWE NXT returns this Thursday with a card from WWE Performance Center that continues to shape up both the division after Great American Bash as the brand gears up for NXT Heatwave. The promotion had announced multiple matches, including two title showdowns.
However, there is now a major change in one of those matches. NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria was set to defend the title against Layla Diggs. Recently, GM Robert Stone revealed that Diggs sustained an injury during a house show on Saturday in Serbig, Florida; hence, she is out of the title match.
The GM added that the match will go as planned, and he is currently working on a replacement. Diggs defeated Izzi Dame, Lizzy Rain, and Thea Hail last week to secure the title shot. The replacement will likely be announced on the show.
Another title match announced for the show will see the NXT Tag Team Champions, the Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes), defend the titles against the number one contenders, Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux.
A number one contender for the NXT Women’s title will also be crowned on the show as former Champion Lola Vice, Kelani Jordand, and Kali Armstrong collide in a triple threat match to secure the title shot.
Additionally, a singles match between Naraku and Tate Wilder has also been announced for tonight’s July 14 show.
