NXT Results & Highlights
Oba Femi celebrates title win
The newly crowned NXT Champion Oba Femi kicked off the show, coming out to celebrate his title win. Femi stated that former champion Trick Williams had a ceiling, but he doesn’t, and he will rule the division as he sees fit.
Femi was interrupted by the NXT North American Champion Tony D’Angelo who reminded him that he holds a win over him. Ridge Holland came out during the segment and got into a fight with D’Angelo. Eddy Thorpe capitalized on the distraction and attacked Femi with a leather strap, likely hinting at a future strap match between the two.
Shotzi vs Stephanie Vaquer
Shotzi and Stephanie Vaquer collided in the first match of the 01/14 show where the No. 1 contender for the NXT Women’s North American title was up for grabs. The first match between the two stars started with quick actions and multiple takedowns.
In the final moments of the match, Jacy Jayne from the Fatal Influence stable darted into the arena but Shotzi and Vaquer teamed up and dragged Jayne into the ring, they took Jacy out with a double headbutt. However, as the referee was checking up on Jayne, Fallon Henley showed up and attacked Vaquer with her title.
Shotzie rolled up Vaquer for the cover and picked up the win without fully realizing what had happened. Henley will now defend her title against Shotzi.
Ethan Page vs Dante Chen
A backstage interaction between Ethan Page and Dante Chen led to this impromptu matchup on the 01/14 episode of the developmental brand.
Without wasting any time Page attacked Chen during his entrance, he continued the beatdown after the bell rang. Chen tried to rally back but Ethan landed a cutter and picked up a quick win in the second match of the evening.
After the match, Page continued the assault removing Chen’s boots and trapping his foot between the steel steps. Page then kicked the steel steps targeting Chen’s foot and ankle, officials darted in to diffuse the situation as Je’Von Evans blindsided Page attacking him.
However, Page quickly lands a takedown and a right hand to his jaw that’s been wired shut, Evans starts bleeding from his mouth as Page continues berating him.
Meta-Four vs The Unholy Union – Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match
Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend (Meta-Four) locked horns against the team of Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn ( The Unholy Union) in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match.
Jackson and Fyre started the action in the third match of the 01/14 episode. Meta-Four had the upper hand in the first half of the match but the Unholy Union slowly rallied and took control of the match. However, Jakar and Legend ultimately picked up the win as Legend took down Isla with a big boot and followed it up with a Full Nelson Wheelbarrow Facebuster-cutter combination with Jackson.
Cora Jade vs Kelani Jordan
Cora Jade and Kelani Jordan stepped into the squared ring to settle their differences. Jade started with some trash talk but Jordan replied with several forearm strikes. Jade slowly took over the match but was irked that she couldn’t finish Jordan immediately.
In the closing moments of the match, Jade resorted to cheating by raking Kelani’s eyes while the referee’s view was obstructed. She then delivered her double underhook DDT to secure the victory.
Nathan Frazer & Axiom (Fraxiom) (c) vs OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima) – NXT Tag Team Championship Match
In the main event of the episode, Nathan Frazer and Axiom (Fraxiom) defend their NXT Tag Team titles against Lucien Price and Bronco Nima (Out The Mud). Roxanne Perez – Bayley segment
Former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez came out to close the show, Perez lost the title at the hands of Giulia at the New Year’s Evil last week. Before Perez came out the promotion showed a clip of mystery women arriving in the building.
Perez picked up the mic and stated that she was proud of assisting in making NXT the best women’s division in all of pro wrestling. Women’s Grand Slam Champion Bayley turned out to be the mystery woman as she appeared during Perez’s monologue and gave her a pep talk.
However, Perez was in no mood as he fired back at the legend, things got heated as Perez attacked Bayley leading to a fight between the two as the 01/14 episode went off air.
