WWE Raw Summary and Highlights
Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins kick off the build towards Crown Jewel

Cody Rhodes, while wearing the inaugural Crown Jewel Championship ring, stated that while he loved it, he also wanted to add another one in Perth next month against the World Heavyweight Champion. Seth Rollins appeared, interrupting Rhodes appeared alongside The Vision (Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed).
The two Champions came face-to-face, and the crowd was electric. Rollins stated that from the moment they walked out of SummerSlam as Champions, he had Crown Jewel circled on his calendar. Rollins hyped up the ‘Champion vs Champion’ clash at Crown Jewel, saying, “Maybe the best man wins.”
The Visionary added that while it should be simple, it wasn’t, because it was him vs Cody. Rollins acknowledged he knew what everyone thought about him, but didn’t care, stating that fans don’t know what’s best for them. He then asked Cody what he truly thought of him. Cody responded, saying that while Rollins had made questionable choices, pointing to Paul Heyman.
Rhodes continued, stating Rollins had changed his life, recalling their battles at Mania and WrestleMania 40, when Rollins, as his ‘Shield,’ helped him win the title for his family. Rhodes then asked Rollins what he thought of himself and called him the absolute best, but insisted the Seth Rollins he was talking about wasn’t hiding behind goons.
Cody asked what he could do for Seth right now. Rollins responded that before they talked about the ring, they needed to address the watch Cody had given him at WrestleMania 40. Rollins revealed he hadn’t worn the watch once until now, asking if it was a real gift or just a token gesture. Seth stated that while Cody praised him, he also undermined him by claiming he was the right person to lead the industry into the future.
Rollins asked if Cody really believed that, what did it say about him, suggesting that either Cody thought Rollins wasn’t good enough or wasn’t better than him. Rollins defended his group, stating that The Vision was an idea, and that Cody might be a quarterback, but Rollins was his quarterback.
Rollins declared that the truth would come out at Crown Jewel, and Cody would realize that Rollins was the creator, and this wasn’t a two-man show; he was the alpha. Cody fired back with two questions, reminding Rollins that their previous three matches had been one-on-one. He asked if that would be the case at Crown Jewel.
Cody then asked how many of their three previous matches Rollins had won. He dropped the mic and left the ring, coming face-to-face with Reed and Breakker, who stepped in his way. Heyman cleared the path for Rhodes as Heyman and Reed stepped aside, and Rhodes’ music hit as he left.
Grade: B+
Backstage Moments:
- Backstage, Jimmy caught up to Jey, telling him he knew they could beat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. He mentioned that he had gone to talk to GM Adam Pearce about a rematch but was told that Jey had requested a clash against LA Knight. Jimmy pointed out that Jey was hurt, but Jey interrupted, going off on LA Knight. The two started arguing, with Jimmy asking if Jey was blaming him for the loss. Jey replied that he wasn’t, then declared he would “body” LA Knight tonight.
Penta & War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & Grayson Waller – No DQ six-man tag team match
In the first match of the show, Pent along with the War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) battled The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) and Grayson Waller in a no disqualification six-man tag team match. The match was set up following last week’s attack on Penta by the New Day and Waller.
Chaos ensued as the ring filled with the six men, who started battering each other with kendo sticks. Penta halted the New Day’s momentum, sending Kingston crashing through a table inside the ring. He then followed it up with a super Mexican Destroyer from the top rope on Waller to pick up the win.

Finn told Dom that if he needed assistance, he should go to El Grande Americano. Dominik then turned to JD for help, and Roxanne convinced JD to lend a hand. Dom then announced that JD would be facing Rusev later on the show.
- In another segment, Bayley asked Lyra Valkyria to be in her corner tonight against Roxanne, but Lyra, understandably on edge after last week, hesitated. However, after a moment, Lyra agreed to support Bayley in her corner.
- Bayley, during the backstage segment with Lyra Valkyria, was wearing CM Punk’s ‘AJ’s Husband’ jacket.
“Women’s World Champion” Stephanie Vaquer
General Manager Adam Pearce stepped into the ring to introduce the new Women’s World Champion, Stephanie Vaquer. Vaquer reflected on the sacrifices made to reach this point, mentioning her victory over one of the best in the world, Iyo Sky. Vaquer shared how she learned to stay strong and never give up, drawing inspiration from her hero, her dad, who stood in the crowd, offering a sweet wave.
Speaking in Spanish, she expressed her pride in being “La Primera” and a World Champion, before switching to English to say that the title represented the motivation and support she’d received from everyone. She thanked her fans, saying that they celebrated with her and cried alongside her.
Vaquer declared that her passion would continue to make history and that no one could stop her, because she was La Primera, the Women’s World Champion. Pearce then announced that on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton would defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax. The winner of that match would face Vaquer in Australia for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship.

- In a segment during commercials, Paul Heyman was asked about his relationship with Brock Lesnar, but he completely dodged the question, instead shifting the focus to how Seth Rollins would defeat Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel.
- After the segment, Stephanie Vaquer met with Nikki Bella and Rhea Ripley backstage. The three were all smiles as The Kabuki Warriors rolled up. Asuka stated that Iyo Sky should be the champion. A heated exchange ensued, and Rhea Ripley stepped up to Asuka, mentioning that she had kept her distance out of respect for Iyo. Asuka responded by saying Rhea wasn’t ready for her, but Ripley fired back, declaring she was ready and challenging Asuka to a match, which was announced later as the main event.
Bayley vs Roxanne Perez
Following her return last week to save Lyra Valkyria from the Judgment Day, Bayley battled Roxanne Perez in a singles match. Lyra Valkyria was in Bayley’s corner while Raquel Rodriguez was repping the Judgment Day. Perez started targeting the left knee of Bayley and delivered a Pop Roxx ringside to take control. Rodriguez sneaked in multiple cheap shots, but the second time Lyra confronted her, sending Rodriguez into the ring post.
Perez retaliated with a suicide dive, but that allowed Bayley to deliver the Bayley-to-Belly suplex, followed by a knee and the Roseplant to pin Perez, as her heel persona took over. After the match, Valkyria hugged Bayley, but Bayley shoved her, stating, “Think you can hug me? Do you know who I am? Stay out of it!”
Winner: Bayley
Grade: B
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Per Wade Barrett, Roxanne has tied LA Knight with 38 televised bouts for the most matches in 2025.
- Backstage, Cody Rhodes and Jimmy Uso bumped into each other and took a moment to catch up. Cody asked how Jey was doing, and Jimmy, looking concerned, asked Cody if he could speak to Jey on his behalf.
- Cody then checked on Jey Uso, offering words of encouragement. Jey thanked Cody, but looked intense. He was also staring at the Undisputed title during the conversation.
Rusev vs JD McDonagh
After being persuaded by Roxanne Perez, JD McDonagh offered to help as he took on Rusev. What followed was a brutal beatdown early, but McDonagh managed to stay in the match to mount a comeback, attacking Rusev’s left leg. However, it was not enough to hold down the Bulgarian Brute, who blasted McDonagh with a Machka Kick and applied the Accolade.
Dominik, who was ringside, stepped onto the apron to help but then got cold feet. McDonagh tapped out, but Rusev refused to release the hold as Finn Balor entered the ring, aiding McDonagh and sending Rusev crashing to the outside. Balor confronted Dominik, stating he should have helped McDonagh. Mysterio countered, claiming that he did. McDonagh attempted to diffuse the situation as they went backstage.
Winner: Rusev
Grade: C+
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Backstage, Iyo Sky told Asuka that she didn’t have to face Rhea Ripley tonight, but Asuka insisted that she needed to teach Sky some respect. Sky then pleaded with Kairi Sane to talk to Asuka, but Sane responded by saying that Asuka was the reason they were all here in the first place.
- LA Knight was interviewed backstage, where he defended his performance as a referee on Saturday. He stated that while he didn’t want to hurt Jey, he would if it came down to it.
Jey Uso vs LA Knight
Amid rising tension and Jey refusing to budge despite pleas from Jimmy Uso. Jey and LA Knight clashed in the co-main event of the show. With a new sense of urgency to regain the title, Jey showed intensity, attacking Knight during the entrance. Knight found his way back into the match and delivered a DDT, followed by a jump-up leaping elbow.
Knight then went for the BFT, but Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker appeared. Knight took out both Reed and Breakker, but Jey capitalized, delivering a spear followed by the Uso Splash to pick up the win. Jimmy Uso appeared to plead with Jey to help Knight, who was now surrounded by Breakker and Reed. Jimmy then darted into the ring with a steel chair, as Paul Heyman advised Breakker against stepping into the ring.
Winner: Jey Uso
Grade: B+
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Not sure if Jey should have competed tonight after the Wrestlepalooza injury, but the medical team has likely cleared him for the match.
- The intensity that is on display from Jey is way better than his character during his title run, which was heavily disliked by the fans. On the other hand, Knight is once again just playing a part in someone else’s story very well, but it remains to be seen when he is the centre focus of a story.
- Backstage, Seth Rollins looked down at the watch Cody Rhodes had gifted him after WrestleMania 40, while Becky Lynch ranted and trash-talked everyone behind him. Becky then walked out, declaring she was going to make an example of someone.
- In another segment, Iyo Sky asked Rhea Ripley to call off the match with Asuka, but Rhea refused, saying she couldn’t. Rhea then warned Iyo to be careful of Asuka, which seriously offended Iyo, who stated that Asuka is family.
Rhea Ripley vs Asuka
Following their backstage interaction, Rhea Ripley and Asuka collided in the main event. Asuka answered everything Ripley threw at her, taking control of the match. However, Ripley had some momentary success. On multiple moments during the match, Asuka ordered Kairi Sane to take a shot at Ripley, but Sane refused.
The tension between the teammates gave Ripley a chance to regain control, but she quickly found herself locked in an ankle lock. Ripley broke the hold but was taken down with a German Suplex. Rhea then countered a move from the top rope mid-air with a drop kick.
Asuka again ordered Sane to attack Ripley once again, and Sane climbed onto the apron to strike. However, Rhea intercepted her before she could make contact. Asuka then attempted to land the Empress Impact, but Ripley ducked, causing Asuka to accidentally hit Sane instead. Ripley quickly rolled up Asuka to secure the win in the main event.
In a fit of frustration, Asuka sprayed Rhea with mist, then commanded Sane to attack Ripley. The two began to batter Ripley, but Iyo Sky rushed into the ring, pleading with Asuka to back off. Asuka shook her head, then unexpectedly embraced Iyo. The two shared a brief moment before Asuka delivered a spinning strike, taking out Iyo.
Asuka then ordered Sane to attack Iyo, and Sane complied, beating down Iyo before setting her up for a kick from Asuka. Sane climbed to the top rope as Rhea slowly got to her feet, only to be hit with the Empress Impact from Asuka. Sane hit the Insane Elbow while visibly fighting back emotions over what had just happened to Iyo. Asuka embraced Sane as the show came to a close.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
Grade: A
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Per Wade Barrett, Asuka has never beaten Rhea Ripley in a one-on-one match; their head-to-head record is 2-0-1, now 3-0-1.
- The match was outstanding, and it lived up to the hype. The post-match angle of Sane and Asuka betraying Sky, only added to the storyline, likely setting up a tag match for Crown Jewel.
- Before the main event, a video package aired, showcasing the rise of the dynasty of El Grande Americano, with the trio officially being dubbed Los Americanos.
- Backstage, Maxxine Dupri was seen chatting with Adam Pearce, trying to secure a match. Pearce acknowledged that the women’s division was more competitive than ever but told her to keep working hard. He promised he’d find a match for her when the time was right.
- AJ Styles and Dragon Lee then appeared. Styles mentioned that the Americanos were starting to annoy him, and, being as petty as he is, they wanted a match next week. When Pearce asked which two of the Americanos they wanted, they replied they didn’t care. Pearce assured them he’d talk to the Americanos and get the match made.
