Iyo Sky advances, Jey Uso & Sami Zayn takes out Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest attacks Santa Claus & more!

The 12/23 episode of Monday Night Raw was telecasted from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. This week’s episode of the Red brand was pre-taped following the 12/16 show last week at the aforementioned venue.

The pre-taping of the 12/23 episode was done to give the WWE roster some additional time off during the upcoming Christmas season.

Get to know what happened this Monday, as we have the complete summary, highlights, results, and winner’s list for the 12/23 episode of WWE Raw.

WWE Raw Summary and Highlights

Drew McIntyre

Without wasting any time, the Scottish Warrior’s music hit as Drew McIntyre made his way down the entrance ramp to kick off the show. McIntyre grabbed the mic and spoke about the injuries he sustained after the brutal Hell in a Cell match.

The Scottish Warrior revealed that he had lost a family member during his time away and, over the past two months, only one person had reached out to check on his mental well-being.

Drew berated the locker room, accusing them of stabbing each other in the back to take their spot. The Scottish Warrior vented his frustrations about being unappreciated despite his numerous sacrifices for the business.

Declaring he was done giving, Drew vowed to focus on taking what he deserved and warned The Usos and Sami Zayn. McIntyre then proclaimed that the real villains in WWE were Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Sami Zayn interrupts

Sami Zayn’s music hit as he walked out into the arena. Zayn stated that he didn’t know what happened to Drew back in Scotland, thinking he was simply recovering from injuries.

Sami entered the ring, faced McIntyre, and declared that he, too, had sacrificed much, just like Drew, because they are WWE Superstars. He emphasized that this wasn’t just their story, but the story of everyone in the stands and watching at home.

Zayn reminded Drew that the fandom made them, and now he was berating them. He pointed out that just because Drew was angry, it didn’t make him special.

Sami also reminded Drew that what The Usos or Sami Zayn did had nothing to do with him. Zayn then challenged Drew to a fight right then and there.

McIntyre replied, saying Sami had a way of spinning things. He could fly back home when he wanted, but Drew didn’t have that option since his home was on the other side of the world.

Drew reminded Zayn that there was no point in fighting him, as he had never been able to defeat the Scottish Warrior.

McIntyre also referenced his injury, stating he wasn’t at 100% and his family was backstage, so the smart thing to do was avoid a fight with him. Zayn refused to back down and attacked Drew, but McIntyre quickly took control.

Just as things looked dire for Zayn, Jey Uso’s music hit as he stormed to the ring to even the odds. Together, Zayn and Uso drove McIntyre out of the ring, ending the segment on a dramatic note.

Backstage

General Manager Adam Pearce was backstage when the Pure Fusion Collective walked in. Sonya Deville asked for a spot in the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match, explaining that Kairi Sane was out due to a backstage attack.

Adam Pearce went off on the faction, reminding them that it was a terrible idea to make such a request, especially after they were the ones who attacked Sane last week, causing the problem.

Pearce then informed Deville and her faction that he had already replaced Kairi with her Damage CTRL partner, Iyo Sky.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament – Iyo Sky vs Alba Fyre vs Natalya

The winner of the final match would join Dakota Kai, Zoey Stark, and Lyra Valkyria in the semi-finals. The bell rang, and the triple threat match was underway as Iyo Sky took control early, taking out Fyre with a suicide dive outside the ring.

Back from commercials, Iyo and Fyre battled inside the ring, with Sky rallying the crowd behind her. Alba lined up Sky and Natalya, climbing to the top rope to land a swanton bomb, attempting a cover.

After several unsuccessful pin attempts, Fyre locked in a submission on Natalya. Natalya fought back, locking in the Sharpshooter on both Iyo Sky and Alba at the same time!

In the final moments of the match, Iyo Sky landed a moonsault from the top rope onto Natalya and went for the cover. One, two, three!! Sky advanced to the semi-finals of the IC Title tournament.

Backstage

In Judgment Day’s clubhouse, Finn Balor and Liv Morgan were engaged in a heated argument over Balor and McDonagh’s tag title loss last week.

Dominik Mysterio stepped in, declaring that he would step up for the family and speak to Adam Pearce to request a match against Damian Priest. Meanwhile, JD McDonagh sighed, wishing for just one day without drama this Christmas.

Backstage

Jey Uso and Sami Zayn were in the locker room, with Zayn thanking Jey for having his back. Jey replied that he had to return for payback on McIntyre for dropping him a few weeks ago.

Zayn acknowledged that he talked a big game and now had to back it up against Drew. Jey reminded Zayn that he wasn’t 100% tonight and shouldn’t fight Drew while injured. Zayn insisted that he started this and wanted to finish it himself.

Jey agreed, stating that he “got next,” and Zayn nodded in agreement. The two shook hands, solidifying their brotherhood.

Chad Gable vs Akira Tozawa

The bell rang as Gable started the action, quickly taking control of the match and taking out Tozawa. Gable showboated, staring down Otis and Maxxine Dupree.

Outside the ring, Gable started an argument with Otis, slapping him, which caused Otis to charge toward him. Gable rushed back into the ring, and Tozawa rolled him up for a cover, but Gable kicked out.

Gable locked in the ankle lock as Tozawa tried to fight back, reaching for the ropes, but the Creed Brothers pulled the ropes away.

With no other option, Tozawa tapped out, giving Chad Gable the win! Gable didn’t release the submission, and Otis stepped in, breaking the lock. Otis confronted Gable, and the Creed Brothers’ faction stepped into the ring to back their leader.

Backstage

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were backstage when Dominik Mysterio appeared. Woods and Kingston believed that Dirty Dom would understand them, with Woods adding that he had to understand their perspective.

Dominik Mysterio responded, saying that he didn’t like Big E, but what happened to him was “crazy.” Woods and Kingston cannot believe what they just heard as Dirty Dom left.

Damian Priest vs Dominik Mysterio

The bell rang as Dirty Dom rolled out of the ring, but Priest didn’t follow. Dominik stepped back in, and Damian called him on, leading to Dirty Dom attacking. However, Priest intercepted and began landing blows, taking control of the match.

Dominik attempted a suicide dive, but Priest intercepted and launched him onto the announcer’s desk. Damian Priest then realized that the guy in the Santa Claus costume was JD McDonagh and attacked him.

Priest then pulled back the ring drapes, revealing Carlito hiding underneath, and took him out. Finn Balor appeared to attack Priest, but Damian fought back, launching Balor through the announcer’s desk.

The numbers game shifted as The Judgment Day took control. Just as Balor set up for another Coup de Grace, the War Raiders stormed into the arena, taking out The Judgment Day.

Priest got up and attacked Balor, returning the favor. In the ring, Erik and Ivar of the War Raiders took out Dominik Mysterio with a brutal War Machine. Priest finished off Finn Balor with a South of Heaven, as he and the War Raiders stood tall in the ring.

Seth Rollins interview

Jackie Redmond interviewed Seth Rollins, asking about the driving force, the root cause, and his disdain for CM Punk. Rollins responded that he had tried to explain his hatred for Punk multiple times, reflecting on their upcoming clash in the debut episode next month.

Seth shared his frustration, recalling the main event of Survivor Series PLE, where CM Punk and Roman Reigns celebrated after winning the men’s WarGames match. He stated that the people would see a side of him they had never seen before.

Rollins revealed that he had to extract this “demon” from his soul, to rid himself of this “cancer” or he will go down. Redmond concluded the interview by cutting a promo, hyping up the highly anticipated clash between Rollins and Punk.

The Miz vs Dexter Lumis

Dexter Lumis’ music hit as he charged toward The Miz, who quickly stepped out of the ring. The Miz was visibly scared, trying to attack Lumis before running away from the ring, but Lumis pursued him. Lumis took control, softening up Miz ringside, continuing the chase and maintaining the upper hand.

Just as The Miz tried to fight back, Dexter Lumis overpowered the A-Lister. Lumis then climbed to the top rope, but Akam and Razor of AOP appeared. Lumis took them out with a splash ringside. Karrion Kross then emerged, attacking Lumis, which caused the disqualification, ending the match.

The Final Testament circled Dexter Lumis, who called for his faction. Suddenly, the lights went out, and the Wyatt Sicks appeared. The Wyatt Sicks quickly cleared the ring, taking out the Final Testament and standing tall.

Backstage

The War Raiders were backstage, proudly wearing their newly won tag titles when Damian Priest walked in. The War Raiders expressed their gratitude, stating that they owed Priest for helping them secure the tag win last week, and they were ready to return the favor tonight.

Priest replied, acknowledging that they were at war with The Judgment Day, and assured them that he is with them every step of the way.

The New Day

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods interrupted as WWE recapped the recent developments within the New Day faction. Woods and Kofi took aim at commentators Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore, berating them for their “biased” journalism.

The duo then stepped into the ring, where the arena was filled with boos. Kofi addressed the crowd, stating that their behavior was ruining the experience for his mother, who had traveled 20 hours to see her son.

Kingston and Woods continued to berate the audience, reminding them that they had given the fans 10 of their best years.

Kofi apologized to his mother, expressing that she didn’t deserve this treatment. He then asked for a hug, but when his mother stood up, she turned her back on him.

Kofi’s mother, coldly giving him the silent treatment, asked what was wrong with them before walking out of the arena.

Backstage

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were backstage when Rey Mysterio walked in. Woods sarcastically asked if Mysterio was there to berate them. Mysterio calmly replied that he wasn’t, but he had been thinking about what Kingston said last week regarding being the locker room leader.

Mysterio then told them that what New Day did to Big E was wrong, and they needed to apologize. Woods and Kingston laughed it off, insisting they hadn’t done anything wrong. Woods even mocked Mysterio, stating that he couldn’t see straight because his mask was too tight.

Mysterio warned them that if they didn’t apologize, they would have no support from the locker room, and they’d be hearing “New Day Sucks” from the fans.

Sami Zayn vs Drew McIntyre

The bell rang, and the match was underway, with Sami Zayn attacking McIntyre and taking control early on. McIntyre fired back with a boot to the chest, knocking Zayn down as he went for a flying attack.

Back from the commercials, McIntyre was in control, determined to continue his unbeaten streak against Sami Zayn. Zayn retaliated by bouncing McIntyre’s head off the announcer’s desk, looking to follow up with an attack on the steel steps.

McIntyre intercepted Zayn, slamming his head off the steel steps. Drew then picked up Zayn and brutally smashed him against the corner of the ring apron, using the steel steps as a launching pad.

Back from the commercials, McIntyre charged toward Zayn, but Sami ducked under, causing Drew to crash shoulder-first into the ring post.

Zayn fought through the pain in his lower back as he climbed to the top rope, but McIntyre interrupted, landing multiple chops to stop his momentum.

McIntyre then picked up Zayn and slammed him into the mat with a brutal White Noise, going for the cover, but Zayn kicked out at two.

Determined to finish the match, McIntyre called for the Claymore, but Zayn countered, taking Drew out with a clothesline.

Zayn followed up with an Exploder Suplex, fighting through the pain to look for the finish. However, McIntyre capitalized on the opportunity, taking Zayn out with a devastating Claymore.

Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn in the main event, maintaining his undefeated streak against Zayn. The Scottish Warrior stood tall, still unbeaten in their rivalry.

After the match, McIntyre attacked a lifeless Sami Zayn, continuing his assault on the fallen star. Suddenly, Jey Uso’s music hit, and he stormed into the ring to make the save, taking McIntyre down with a brutal spear.
