WWE Raw Summary and Highlights

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn stepped into the ring as the Charlotte crowd welcomed him back. He picked up the mic and stated that it had been a rough couple of weeks for him. Zayn mentioned that there weren’t really many two stars whose names had been tied together more than his and Kevin Owens.

He said there was no forgiving this time for KO because he had tried to end his career, but KO hadn’t gotten the job done, and he was still standing right there. Zayn revealed that he had enough in the tank for a fight and that he wanted it to take place in Toronto.

General Manager Adam Pearce appeared on stage, trying to convince Zayn not to accept the match in Toronto. He revealed that Zayn had not been medically cleared to compete and, as much as he loved the idea of the match, his answer was ‘no.’ Pearce turned to leave, but the crowd continued to boo.

Zayn picked up the mic and stopped Pearce from leaving. He stated that he wasn’t taking no for an answer and wasn’t going to leave the ring until Pearce gave him the match. Pearce once again repeated that he couldn’t sanction the match, explaining that he couldn’t stop Kevin Owens if he really wanted to hurt Zayn because there were no rules WWE had washed its hands of the situation legally.

He warned that if Zayn won the match, he would still lose in the end. Pearce asked Zayn what he wanted to do, suggesting that this might be Sami’s last match at Elimination Chamber. The crowd filled the arena with chants of “Let them fight!”

Zayn then stepped out of the ring, coming face to face with Pearce, and stated that if Pearce couldn’t stop him from going after Owens, then Pearce couldn’t stop him from taking the match either.

Zayn once again asked the GM to give him the match. Pearce finally made the match official between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for Elimination Chamber but stated that the match was not official but unsanctioned.

Backstage

Carlito, Finn Balor, Liv Morgan, Dominik Mysterio, and Raquel Rodriguez were in the Judgment Day’s locker room. Dominik and Morgan discussed Bianca Belair and Naomi being in the arena, with Morgan stating that she wasn’t worried about them as she was focused on aiming for the tag titles.

Morgan lauded Dominik for his work for their faction, while Dominik voiced his frustration about Balor not letting him add a new member to the faction. Balor stepped in, and Morgan expressed her excitement about his upcoming match against Seth Rollins that night.

Balor stated that he was going to beat Rollins and pointed out that Morgan was already in the match. He added that it would be interesting if Raquel lost to Roxanne Perez that night. Raquel and Balor shared glances as Raquel stated that she would win her match that night and advised Balor to do the same.

AJ Styles vs Dominik Mysterio

The bell rang, and the first match of the show was underway. Styles kicked off his in-ring return, showcasing his speed and experience to land a suplex on Dominik. The Phenomenal One continued his domination, landing multiple chest chops and following it up with a backbreaker.

Styles loaded up for the Phenomenal Forearm, but the official was distracted as Carlito interfered, pushing the ropes, which caused Styles to crash out of the ring. Dominik went for a splash from the top rope, but Styles moved out of harm’s way, and the match continued.

Styles fought back, folding Dom with a brutal clothesline and following it up with a knee to the back of the neck. Styles once again went for the finish, but Carlito tried to interfere, only to eat a low blow. Dirty Dom tried to capitalize, but Styles fired back with the Styles Clash, into the cover. AJ Styles won against Dominik Mysterio.

Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker was in the ring after the match, going for the spear on Styles, who ducked, causing Breakker to spear Dirty Dom instead. Styles fired back with the Pele kick on Breakker, sending him out of the ring. Breakker threw his tee in frustration, only for Styles to catch it directly.

Styles now went for the IC title, but Breakker quickly grabbed it. The two stars exchanged glances, with Breakker flaunting the title.

Backstage

The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile were backstage as Nile reminded the Creed Brothers that despite decimating the War Raiders, they did not win the title last week.

Nile reminded them about their leader Chad Gable’s order to see gold all around their waist and stated that she would take care of Dakota Kai that night and win the Women’s Intercontinental title.

Dakota Kai arrived as Nile declared that she was taking the title back to American Made. Kai fired back, stating that she was earning the title shot that night.

Dakota Kai vs Ivy Nile – Women’s Intercontinental Championship No.1 Contender match

The bell rang, and the match was official as Nile took control early, sending Kai out of the ring. Ivy attacked the recently injured knee of Kai as the “You Suck!” chants filled the arena. Nile, unfazed, continued the attack on the injured knee.

The match continued as Nile once again targeted the injured knee, locking in the ankle lock. Kai refused to quit and made her way to the ropes to break the hold. Kai fought back, and the two exchanged shots in the middle of the ring. Nile countered with a DDT, followed by another cover, but Kai quickly kicked out.

In the final moments, Kai landed a big kick and went for the GTK. Nile fought back, only to fall into a cover, but Nile kicked out and locked in the ankle lock once again.

Kai fought back, sending Nile out of the ring. She landed a brutal knee to the back of Nile’s head, then followed it up with the GTK into the cover. Dakota Kai defeated Ivy Nile and became the #1 Contender for the Women’s Intercontinental title.

After the match, Women’s IC Champion Lyra Valkyria stepped into the ring as the two stars went face-to-face ahead of their future clash.

Gunther – Jey Uso

“The Ring General” Gunther made his entrance similar to how Jey Uso does via the crowd stands, mocking the “Yeet” chant. The World Heavyweight Champion mocked the crowd and said that he didn’t blame them for not appreciating him.

Gunther revealed that he was sick and tired of stepping in the ring with people who couldn’t even tie their shoes. The Ring General then revealed that he tried to talk some sense into Jey and reminded everyone that at WrestleMania, the match wouldn’t happen in the crowd stands but would take place in the ring.

“You Suck!” chants filled the arena as Gunther jumped the barricade and stepped on the steel steps to remind the crowd that at WrestleMania, Jey Uso’s blood would be on the crowd’s hands. “We want Jey!” chants filled the arena as Gunther asked if the crowd really believed Jey had a chance against him.

The Ring General went to get a professional opinion and climbed the announcer’s desk to ask Michael Cole and Pat McAfee for their unbiased opinions on whether Jey Uso had any chance to beat him at Mania. Gunther threw the mic toward Pat McAfee and asked for his opinion. McAfee picked up the mic, looked at the crowd, and stated that anything could happen, and he hoped Jey could beat him.

Gunther got irked by the crowd and went towards McAfee, but Jey Uso‘s music hit, and he came to confront Gunther, only to be stopped by officials who tried to advise him against stepping into the ring. Jey Uso distracted the officials and darted into the ring, going after Gunther as the two stars collided. Officials tried to get things under control, only to eat a superkick from Jey.

Gunther capitalized and locked in a rear-naked choke on Jey as officials and security once again tried to diffuse the situation. Jey and Gunther collided again as security finally got things under control and took Gunther away from the ring. Jey was now in the ring as he “Yeeted!” with the crowd.

Morgan fired back, stating that Kelley was talking recklessly and cut a promo for Raquel’s match against Roxanne Perez that night, calling Perez a “little bug.”

Kelley once again tried to ask for their opinion, but Morgan floated the hypothesis, asking, “If we attacked Jade Cargill, would that be bad?” She then stated that it could happen to anyone who got in their way. The segment ended as Morgan and Raquel neither accepted nor denied any accountability for what happened to Jade Cargill.

Penta vs Pete Dunne

The bell rang as the two stars started the slugfest without wasting any time. “Let’s go, Penta!” chants filled the arena. Penta was in control of the action early but ate a dropkick right to the face. Dunne then removed Penta’s gloves, attacking Penta’s fingers and stomping on his elbows.

Dunne took control, continuing to target every joint in the luchador’s body. Pete kept up the attack, but Penta fired back with a backbreaker. Dunne planted Penta on the apron, causing him to crash onto the concrete mat. Ludwig Kaiser appeared, and Dunne looked irked by his presence.

Kaiser signaled for Dunne to calm down. The match continued as Dunne caught Penta and landed a running power slam directly into the cover, but Penta kicked out. The luchador then hit the Mexican Destroyer and tried to catch his breath as Dunne rolled out of the ring.

Penta went for the attack, but Kaiser caused interference by stepping on the ring. Dunne capitalized, attacked Penta, and went for the cover, but the luchador kicked out. Dunne once again warned Kaiser to stay out of his way, but Kaiser stated that he was only trying to help and promised to stay away.

Dunne moved forward to confront Kaiser, but Penta pushed him directly onto Kaiser, causing him to crash ringside. The luchador then landed the Penta Driver on Dunne and went for the cover, remaining undefeated as he pinned Pete Dunne.

After the match, Penta celebrated his win, but Kaiser attacked him. Dunne pulled Kaiser out of the ring, and the two started to brawl. Penta took out both Dunne and Kaiser with a suicide dive and then stepped back into the ring to celebrate the win with the fans.

Cathy Kelley asked how Jey Uso was feeling, given that Gunther and everyone else were doubting him. She also asked about Gunther’s words earlier in the show.

Jey Uso replied that while everyone was doubting him, he was standing in front of them as the Royal Rumble winner. He vowed to shock everyone once again at WrestleMania when he would beat Gunther to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

WWE Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Roxanne Perez vs Raquel Rodriguez

Rollins left as Karrion Kross arrived and went off on Sami Zayn, stating that he was puzzled by him and his friends. Kross claimed that Jey Uso would defeat Gunther at Mania and Seth Rollins would beat John Cena. Kross then questioned Zayn, asking if he actually believed that he couldn’t beat Kevin Owens in the state that he was in.

Kross concluded by stating that there was no helping Rollins and Jey, but he still believed that deep down inside, Zayn still believed that, “There’s always more time to turn things around!”

Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods (New Day)

Kingston and Woods were in the ring as the promotion recapped last week’s attack by the New Day on Rey Mysterio. Woods and Kingston tried to speak, but the crowd drowned them in boos. Woods went off on the crowd, Big E, and Rey Mysterio, stating that everyone was insane if they wanted him to respect Mysterio.

Kingston reminded everyone that he had more title wins than Mysterio and had been around longer. He emphasized that the difference between them was that he never left and that if anybody should be a locker room leader, it should be them. Woods and Kingston continued to detail their attack on Mysterio from last week as the crowd chanted, “New Day sucks!”

Kingston and Woods told the crowd to thank them for giving Mysterio some time off to spend with his wife. LWO’s music hit as Dragon Lee walked in, accompanied by Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde. Dragon Lee stated that what the New Day did to Mysterio was unforgivable and made it clear that the LWO wouldn’t stand for it.

Wild and Del Toro darted into the ring for some payback, and Dragon Lee joined them in beating down Woods and Kingston. The LWO took care of the New Day, who ran out of the ring toward the entrance ramp as Lee went for the suicide dive.

Bianca Belair and Naomi were backstage when Cathy Kelley caught up with them and asked if that was the payback they were looking for. Naomi replied that they had been counting the days for the truth to come out, and now Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez should count their days.

Naomi and Belair sent a warning to Liv and Raquel, stating that they must bring the fight next week. The two then cut a promo for the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, sending a warning to the Women’s World Champion.

Rollins went for the Pedigree, but Balor intercepted and landed his own Pedigree on the Visionary. He covered, but Rollins kicked out. Balor went to the top rope for the Coup de Grâce, but Rollins moved out of harm’s way. Seth then took out Balor ringside with a suicide dive and followed it with a flying knee inside the ring.

The Visionary went for the Stomp, but Balor ducked and landed a Swing Blade. Finn went for another attack, but Rollins targeted his knees. Rollins caught Balor, who tried to attack ringside and slammed him down on the announcer’s desk.
