During the opening walk-in shots, CM Punk made his entrance alongside AJ Lee, a moment that immediately shifted the tone of the night as Becky Lynch was shown visibly angered by Lee’s unexpected return. Lynch then made the walk to cut a promo, stating that she had a big announcement about the corruption at the Royal Rumble,  who does she witness returning to the show? AJ Lee then interrupts Becky.

Lynch asked what AJ Lee was doing on her show, prompting Lee to clarify that she wasn’t there for Becky at all. Instead, she said she was there to support her girl, Maxxine Dupri. Becky fired back, blasting AJ and accusing her of ruining her life. Lee questioned how she was doing that, calling the claim more than a little dramatic.

She pointed out that the only things she had done were beat Becky at Wrestlepalooza and WarGames, and cost her the Intercontinental Championship against Maxxine. Lee noted that Becky eventually got her title back anyway, so everything should have been fine. Lynch snapped back, asking what it would take to get AJ off her back, before proposing a one-on-one match at Elimination Chamber, taking place in AJ’s hometown.

AJ asked if Becky really wanted to face her, calling the challenge flattering. She reminded Lynch that she hadn’t competed in a singles match in decades, and if it was going to happen, it should be special. Becky responded by calling AJ one of the G.O.A.T.s, but questioned what it would make her if she beat her: lucky, or simply better?

Lee then asked if that would make her the number-one contender. Becky immediately said no, and insisted that AJ had done nothing to earn that opportunity and wasn’t even a member of the active roster. AJ replied that if there is no title and no match she might just head back to Chicago, a statement Becky accepted, making it official, while issuing a stern warning to the challenger.

Grade: B+

Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Michael Cole announced that Bron Breakker sustained an injury during training and has undergone surgery and will be out indefinitely.
  • A great segment to set-up the highly anticipated match, which unfortunately isn’t happening at Mania as speculated by many.

The Usos (c) vs Alpha Academy – World Tag Team titles match

In the first match of the show, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) defended the World Tag Team titles against the Alpha Academy (Otis & Akira Tozawa). The Champions retained after weathering an early storm by the challengers to hit 1D and pin Otis, retaining the Tag titles in the process.

Winner & Still: The Usos

Grade: B

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Corey Graves did an outstanding job putting over the challengers, especially Tozawa and giving fans a compelling preview. His ability to elevate the action once again proved why he should be a permanent fixture on WWE commentary.
  • After the match, Jimmy Uso told Jey Uso that he needed to qualify for, and ultimately win, the Elimination Chamber in order to reclaim his status as “Main Event” Jey Uso.

Liv Morgan still hasn’t made her mind

Liv Morgan went to speak, but was interrupted by Dirty Dom, who brough out a vase of flowers and a box of chocolates from ringside. Liv remarked that the fans could learn a thing or two from Dirty Dom.

The 2025 Rumble winner then set the gifts aside and stated that she had put both Jade Cargill and Stephanie Vaquer on notice, declaring that whoever she ultimately chose would lose their title at the “Grandest Stage of Them All.”

Morgan hugged Dirty Dom, who attempted to speak, but was startled as pyrotechnics went off in the distance. Moments later, Stephanie Vaquer made her entrance. Vaquer stepped into the ring and said that Liv talked too much, before the champion spoke in Spanish, prompting Liv to ask Dirty Dom what she had said.

Mysterio replied that he couldn’t repeat what Vaquer said, but offered to respond instead. Dirty Dom then spoke in Spanish, leading Liv to once again ask what he had said. Vaquer clarified that Dom had called himself “a little b*tch,” which caused Liv to mock Vaquer and her ring attire. The champion fired back, saying she hoped Liv would choose her so she could kick her ass.

Liv claimed she knew exactly what Vaquer was trying to do and insisted she wasn’t going to rush her decision. She then insulted Vaquer in Spanish (calling her p*ta), which enraged the champion, leading her to slap Dirty Dom before exiting the ring.

Grade: C-

Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • It was a pure time-filler segment that easily could have been handled as a brief backstage interaction instead.

Rhea Ripley vs Lyra Valkyria vs Ivy Nile – women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match

In the second match of the show, Rhea Ripley, Lyra Valkyria and Ivy Nile battled in the second women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match to secure the second spot in the afforementioned match. Expect few sloppy moves the three women delivered a good match, with Ripley picking up the win after delivering the Riptide on Lyra to secure the Chamber spot.

Winner: Rhea Ripley

Grade: C+

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Putting Rhea against Lyra and Nile was already a forgone conclusion of who is going to win, that said the match was decent with some good moments and few botches.
  • While it was a good decision not to have Ivy take the pin, and to even put her over in the match. Lyra’s continued slump remains noticeable and sad, especially considering her breakout moment last year.
  • Backstage, at the Judgment Day clubhouse, Dominik Mysterio approached Finn Balor to offer some encouragement, suggesting Balor aim for the tag team titles once JD McDonagh returned. However, Balor admitted that he wasn’t finished with CM Punk. Dominik noted that all the attention seemed to be on Punk and Roman Reigns, hinting that Balor’s opportunity might be slipping away. Balor expressed his frustration at constantly being overlooked, saying he thought they were family.

CM Punk accepts Finn Balor’s challenge

Michael Cole was in the ring, recapping last week’s promo and Roman Reigns selecting CM Punk for WrestleMania. Before Cole could introduce Punk, Finn Balor darted into the ring, grabbing a microphone. He claimed that CM Punk was hurt and that he was the one responsible, vowing not to let Roman take advantage once again.

Balor expressed frustration at constantly being overlooked and pushed around. He then challenged Punk for the Elimination Chamber, saying that Punk had beaten him on his home turf and now he was ready to return the favor on Punk’s turf.

GM Adam Pearce stepped in with security, insisting it was too late and that the World Championship match was already set. Pearce asked Finn to leave so Cole could interview CM Punk. CM Punk then made his entrance, with Balor calling him out. Pearce attempted to stop Punk, but the champion darted into the ring as Balor rolled out and climbed onto the announce desk.

Pearce tried to calm Punk, who grabbed the microphone from him. Punk stated that Finn didn’t deserve a title shot, he deserved an ass-whooping. He challenged Balor to grow a pair and step into the ring.

Balor replied that he wouldn’t do it without the title on the line. Punk accepted the stipulation, reminding Balor that he had beaten him in Belfast and promising to do it again in Cleveland, and at Elimination Chamber.

Pearce intervened, insisting he would not let the WrestleMania main event be put in jeopardy. Punk warned that if Pearce didn’t make it official, he would chase Balor all night. Pearce then made it official: CM Punk vs Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber.

Balor was escorted out as Punk handed the microphone to Michael Cole, asking him to start the interview. Cole asked why Punk would jeopardize the WrestleMania main event. Punk replied that he wasn’t jeopardizing anything, he was chasing greatness. He declared that he was a fighting champion, giving the fans the action they deserved.

The Champion emphasized that he would fight anyone, anytime, to prove that he was the Best in the World. The champion continued, saying he was humble enough to know his reign could end at any moment, but confident enough to believe it would not.

Punk then brought up Roman Reigns, prompting the audience to chant “OTC,” and added that he knew Roman didn’t actually hate him. Punk concluded by stating that WrestleMania could only end one way: with the official raising his hand and declaring “AND STILL!”

Grade: A

Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Is CM Punk spreading himself too thin, and could being a fighting champion ultimately cost him against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania?
  • The Vision confronted Adam Pearce backstage. Heyman accused Pearce of provoking Bron Breakker into pushing himself repeatedly, ultimately leading to a hernia from deadlifting too much weight at four in the morning, and that responsibility lay squarely on Pearce. Pearce stood his ground, stating that as general manager, he knew Bron was the future of WWE and that nobody wanted him back more than he did, aside from maybe Heyman and company. He reminded them that Austin Theory had a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber and warned Heyman and the others to stay out of it, and when Heyman asked for clarification, Pearce told him to take it as a threat.
  • Logan Paul then stepped up, asking what Pearce would do if they did get involved, before declaring it was a rhetorical question and touting himself as the biggest star to come out of Cleveland as he started toward Adam. Bronson Reed intervened, creating some sepeartion before making it clear that Pearce was his problem now, not Paul’s.

Maxxine Dupri vs Nattie

Maxxine Dupri took control early, attempting to submit Nattie with an ankle lock. The action spilled outside the ring, and Dupri locked in the hold again, but Nattie sent her crashing into the steel steps. Nattie then whipped Dupri into the ring post and over the announce desk, continuing to batter her with punches on the desk.

The referee called off the match due to a count-out, but Nattie maintained the sharpshooter. Security and officials rushed in, pleading with her to release the hold. AJ Lee’srushed in to make the save, prompting Nattie to finally walk away. AJ checked on Dupri. Lee helped Dupri, escorting her backstage, when Becky Lynch appeared from behind and shoved AJ into the ringpost.

Result: Double count-out draw

Grade: B

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • The small connection between the two storylines was used well during the segment, and a tag team match might be in the works.

Je’Von Evans & Original El Grande Americano vs Los Americanos (Rayo & Bravo Americano) – Tag Team match

The Original El Grande Americano was revealed as Je’Von Evans tag partner as they battled Los Americanos (Rayo & Bravo Americano). Despite, the other El Grande’s interference, Evans and OG Americano secured the win after Evans hit an amazing mid-air OG Cutter on Bravo, while Original Americano delivered a flying headbutt to pin Rayo and pick up the win.

Winner: Je’Von Evans & Original El Grande Americano

Grade: B+

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • El Grande Americano attacked Evans and the Original Americano after the match, attempting to rip off his mask. The Original Americano fought back, turning the tide and trying to remove El Grande’s mask, but Rayo and Bravo pulled him out of the ring.
  • A pormo aired where Oba Femi spoke about how people fear change and cling to the past, failing to realize that it is inevitable. He warned that you either adapt or fall behind, and declared that change had arrived, his presence would be felt through his drums, his confident strut, and the unmistakable impact of his actions.

LA Knight vs Penta vs Austin Theory – men’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match

In the main event of the show, LA Knight, Penta and Austin Theory battled in the men’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match. Instead of the warning by the GM Adam Pearce, Logan Paul and Bronson Reed interfered in the match when Knight was about to hit Theory with the BFT.

Adam Pearce arrived at the scene, escorting Logan and Reed backstage, when the masked man from Royal Rumble struck again, flatlining Theory with a stomp ringisde. Logan and Reed chased the masked man, while back in the ring Knight delivered the BFT to pin Theory and secure the second spot in the match.

Winner: LA Knight

Grade: B

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • This was Knight’s first match since the December 8 episode of Raw, when he was attacked by The Vision.
  • Backstage before the main event, Byron Saxton interviewed Gunther who reflected that his journey to WrestleMania should have begun when he overcameBill Goldberg, been solidified when he made John Cena submit, and further proved when he put AJ Styles to sleep.
