Finn Balor attacks CM Punk on WWE RAW
Just five days before the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, WWE RAW streamed live on Netflix from Toronto with a loaded, angle-heavy go-home show. With championships, careers, and momentum all hanging in the balance, the red brand delivered a night packed with promos, returns, and an explosive main event that ended in chaos.
AJ Styles spoke ahead of his potentially career-ending showdown with Gunther, new No. 1 contenders to the World Tag Team Championships were crowned, Natalya addressed her stunning betrayal of Maxxine Dupri, and Adam Pearce finally dealt with the fallout surrounding Bron Breakker. By night’s end, RAW had set several pieces in motion, while leaving others deliberately unsettled.
AJ Styles cus a promo

AJ Styles opened the show with a heartfelt and defiant promo, addressing his Royal Rumble match against Gunther. With retirement looming if he loses, Styles insisted there was no reason 2026 couldn’t still be “the year of AJ Styles.” That confidence drew out World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk to the sounds of “Cult of Personality.”
A sharp verbal exchange followed. Styles bristled at the suggestion that Punk doubted his chances against Gunther, leading Styles to challenge the champion to a match that very night. Punk upped the ante, insisting the World Heavyweight Championship be on the line. The match was set.

Paul Heyman delivered an ominous introduction for The Vision before calling out Adam Pearce. Heyman accused the RAW GM of planting brass knuckles for Rey Mysterio last week and laying hands on Bron Breakker. Pearce admitted he crossed a line, but then dropped major news.
Bron Breakker’s suspension was lifted. He is officially entered into the Royal Rumble, alongside Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, and Austin Theory. Pearce then informed Theory that his match with Rey Mysterio was starting immediately.
The bout was competitive, with interference looming throughout. With chaos at ringside involving The Vision, Penta, and Dragon Lee, Theory capitalized late, landing a stomp to secure the pin. Post-match, The Vision stood tall after laying out the babyfaces.

Gunther sends a chilling message

Michael Cole sat down with Gunther for a pre–Royal Rumble interview. The Ring General explained that he forced Styles into this corner because he wanted something tangible from beating him again.
He dismissed “old timers,” referencing Goldberg and John Cena, and promised Styles would be next. Gunther closed by staring down Cole and declaring, “The career of AJ Styles is over.”
