WWE Raw Summary and Highlights
Jey Uso – Paul Heyman

Jey was all worn out from all the YEETING, but “ONE MORE TIME” echoed through the arena. Jey obliged, signaling for the crew to play his music again. Paul Heyman interrupted the celebration and was met with a chorus of boos.
The Oracle declared that he wasn’t here to disrespect Jey, even though tonight he would be in the main event against ‘Big’ Bronson Reed. He came out to speak man-to-man, from one former Bloodline member to another.
Heyman continued, saying he wanted to talk about family. He mentioned seeing the look in Jey’s eye, before retreating back toward the entrance ramp. Heyman went on, stating that Jey teaming up with Roman for the tag match was all about family, but he knew that family would always let him down, lead him into trouble. He ended the promo with a cryptic, “trust the Oracle.”
He added that Jey wasn’t buying what he was selling and played mind games, even bringing in Jey’s mother and father, WWE legend Rikishi. The Oracle reminded Jey that Roman picked Solo as the next in line for Tribal Chief, not him.
Heyman continued sowing seeds of malice between Jey and Roman, before declaring he loved Jey just like family, “YEET!” Jey picked it up, stating that family was why he was here. He promised to always pull up for his family because the Bloodline still ran deep in his veins.
Jey blasted Heyman for disrespecting him, reminding him that he won the Heavyweight title all on his own. Heyman could talk about family, but where was his? Jey declared that Heyman’s betrayal of his family and his boys ruining his title chances would eventually pay back.
Grade: B
Key Takeaways:
- A solid attempt by Paul Heyman to sow seeds of distrust between Roman and Jey ahead of SummerSlam.
- Jey Uso sounds out of breath but always delivers when it comes to intense and emotional promos.
AJ Styles, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) vs The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) – 6-person mixed tag team match
In the first match of the show, AJ Styles teamed up with the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) to battle The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) ahead of his Intercontinental title clash against Dominik at SummerSlam.
The Judgment Day controlled the match until Styles was tagged in as he assisted Sane in delivering an insane elbow from the ropes on Rodriguez, while Iyo took out Perez. Styles then delivered the phenomenal forearm to pin Mysterio and pick up the win.
Winner: AJ Styles, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane)
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- Kairi’s insane elbow, assisted by AJ Styles on Raquel, was a jaw-dropping and gravity-defying move.
- WWE should book more mixed-tag team matches like these, which will also help elevate the two divisions.
Sheamus vs Grayson Waller
After a backstage segment earlier where Grayson Waller challenged Sheamus to another match, this time with the New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) in his corner. However, the New Day left as soon as Waller turned away after challenging Sheamus and had to make the walk alone.
As expected, Waller fell prey to Sheamus’ fast-paced offense, and while Rusev did try to interfere, Sheamus managed to land the brogue kick to pick up the win. Rusev, however, attacked Sheamus with the shellaleigh after the match and locked in the accolade to further punish the Celtic Warrior.
Winner: Sheamus
Grade: B
Key Takeaways:
- Sheamus delivers another banger, keeping the winning streak against Waller intact.
- Rusev didn’t hold back with the shillelagh, leaving angry welts across Sheamus’s body.
Backstage
Jackie Redmond interviewed Naomi about her upcoming title defense at SummerSlam. Redmond asked the Champion about the match. Naomi was irked by the question, stating that Rhea wasn’t the only one bringing brutality and, like Iyo, she could fly too.
The Champion then hyped up the eight-woman tag match set for tonight and promised to take out the present, past, and future.
Paul Heyman stood alongside Bronson Reed, hyping him up for his clash against Jey Uso, trying to work some mind games. He talked up Reed’s potential, pushing him to take down Jey. Heyman remarked that he had heard people say they were a group without a leader.
At that moment, Bron Breakker stepped in, declaring that they now had one, and confidently stated that Reed was going to destroy Jey tonight. He promised Reed would Tsunami Jey Uso and take back control, starting with tonight’s match.
Reed added that he would leave Jey and any member of his family who tried to intervene in a Tsunami. He walked off, leaving Heyman to comment, “That worked!” Breakker responded, “I have a plan,” as the segment ended.
Grade: B
Lyra Valkyria takes out Becky Lynch
Lyra Valkyria picked up the mic, hyping up her upcoming IC title match. She stated that she would either capture the title again or be forced to never compete for it again. Lyra said she had seen everything Becky had done and knew exactly what Becky was capable of, but Becky didn’t know what Lyra herself was capable of, she didn’t even know it herself.
Becky Lynch’s music hit, and Lyra braced for her. Becky came from behind with a kendo stick, but Lyra was one step ahead, diving in with a dropkick to take Becky down. Lyra grabbed the kendo stick, punishing the IC Champion who tried to escape the ring. Becky managed to pick up the stick, but Lyra ducked, going for the Nightwing. Becky ducked it and retreated backstage.
Grade: C
Key Takeaways:
- The promo felt lackluster, and the brawl felt forced and unnecessary.
- Nevertheless, the no DQ, no countout last chance match for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship clash at SummerSlam is going to steal the show.
Sami Zayn – Karrion Kross
Corey Graves interviewed Sami Zayn about his upcoming clash with Karrion Kross. Zayn stated that Kross was standing in the way of his title aspirations and that he wanted to end the feud once and for all. Karrion Kross then walked in with Scarlett, asking Graves to leave. Corey obliged as Kross sat down.
Kross said that he could have attacked Zayn but chose not to. He claimed he had shown everyone their true colors, but hadn’t been able to do that with Sami. He promised that at SummerSlam, he would make Sami say, “Kross told you so,” and then Sami could get back to his title aspirations.
Kross handed Sami a metal pipe, and Zayn fired back, asking what Kross wanted. He then stated that if Kross defeated him, he would say whatever Kross wanted him to say. Sami finished by declaring that he would beat Kross at SummerSlam, and then Karrion would have to look him in the eye and admit that he was wrong.
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- Great example of how feuds do not always need to end in a brawl, the intimate setting helped with the promo too.
- Both Sami and Kross are 1-1 going into the trilogy match at SummerSlam.
Rhea Ripley, Nikki Bella, Stephanie Vaquer & Iyo Sky vs Chelsea Green, The Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre) & Naomi
In a second colossal eight-woman tag match, Rhea Ripley, Nikki Bella, Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky teamed up to battle the team of Chelsea Green, The Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre) and Naomi. Sky and Ripley are set to battle Naomi for the World title at SummerSlam, while Bella and Vaquer have their issues with Green and the Secret Hervice.
The heels enjoyed early flurries, but the bayfaces took control later as they joined forces. Ripley took out Niven with the Riptide, while Vaquer landed the SVB on Green to pick up the win in the eight-woman tag match.
Winner: Rhea Ripley, Nikki Bella, Stephanie Vaquer & Iyo Sky
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- In a backstage segment with Jackie Redmond, Bayley expressed frustration in missing out on WrestleMania 41 and now SummerSlam and stated that she’s lost for words.
- Stephanie Vaquer is slowly becoming a major star similar to Ripley, and the huge pin was a testament to WWE’s growing confidence in her potential.
- In a backstage segment later while celebrating the win, Sky & Ripley exchanged jabs as Rhea stated, that while they were friends, at SummerSlam, she would have her number. Sky fired back, reminding Ripley that she had never been able to beat her, and never would. Ripley walked off, but not before responding, “We’ll see about that.”
Backstage
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh were preparing for their World title defense in the Judgment Day clubhouse while Dominik Mysterio, Roxanne Perez, and Raquel Rodriguez were down after their recent loss. Balor gave a motivational speech, trying to lift their spirits, but Dominik, Perez, and Rodriguez still felt humiliated by the defeat. Balor kept going with the pep talk as McDonagh stood by.
Mysterio then asked if they needed any assistance, to which Balor replied that Dominik should hang back and play video games. Perez handed Dominik a Switch 2 console, and Mysterio asked if she played. Perez confirmed that she did and suggested he try WWE 2K25. Rodriguez then added that Liv Morgan also played WWE 2K25, reminding Mysterio of that fact.
Grade: B+
The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh) (c) vs LWO (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde) – WWE Tag Team titles match
The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh) defended the World Tag Team titles against the number one contenders in LWO (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde). This was their first title defense after winning the title by defeating the New Day.
Wilde and Del Toro once again showcased their high-flying skills and were close to getting the pin, but El Grande Americano stepped in to cause an interference.
While Dragon Lee took care of Americano and Del Toro was looking for a finishing touch from the top rope, another masked man of relatively short stature than Americano came in, pushing him off the ropes as Balor capitalized to deliver the coup de grâce and retain the titles.
Winner: The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh)
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- This was Finn Balor & JD McDonagh’s first title defense.
- Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde continue to showcase their jaw-dropping skills with the little screen time they get.
- Corey Graves did an impressive job telling Wilde’s story, including a near career-ending injury in 2017.
- While LWO was likely not going to win the titles, it was a great opportunity for them to show out in front of fans.
Gunther and CM Punk face off
The Champion picked up the mic as “CM PUNK” chants filled the arena. Gunther asked everyone to calm down, stating that last week had been a clean victory for him because he went toe-to-toe on the mic with the supposedly ‘Best in the World.’
Gunther recapped what he told Punk last week, leaving the “voice of the voiceless” speechless. Now, the crowd chanted “YOU TAPPED OUT.” Gunther fired back, admitting that he might have tapped out, but he wasn’t running out of things to say about CM Punk.
The Ring General continued, reminding everyone how he made Punk “shut the hell up.” Then, CM Punk’s music hit, and the arena erupted with a massive pop. Punk stepped into the ring as “CM PUNK” chants filled the air once again.
Punk picked up the mic, stating that he was more dumbfounded than speechless, not because of what Gunther said, but because it dawned on him that he was standing in front of someone as great as Gunther. And that realization hit him: he didn’t just want to be the World Heavyweight Champion, he needed to be the World Heavyweight Champion.
Punk continued, saying that he didn’t drink or do drugs, because this, because wrestling, was his addiction. Punk called out Gunther for saying he didn’t deserve to call himself the “Best in the World,” but Punk argued that he had earned it, leaving a trail of bodies from Superstars to legends along the way.
Gunther tried to respond, asking Punk to shut up, but Punk covered his mic, saying there were levels to this, and Gunther would find out on Saturday night. Punk declared that he would leave as the World Heavyweight Champion, but at least Gunther would get to experience what it was like to be in the ring with the “Best in the World!”
Grade: A
Key Takeaways:
- Another example of why you don’t always need to brawl in order to sell a match.
- No one excels at delivering a passionate babyface promo that hypes up a match quite like Punk.
Jey Uso vs Bronson Reed
In the main event of the show, Jey Uso battled Bronson Reed in a singles match. However, the match ended quickly in disqualification as Jey took out Reed with a suicide dive he was ambushed by Bron Breakker who took him out with a vicious spear. The attack by Reed and Breakker brought out ‘ The OTC’ Roman Reigns.
Reigns and Jey cleaned house but fell victim to Breakker’s plan as they tried to attack them ringside. Breakker and Reed retaliated with a spear and a Tsunami to both Reigns and Jey. Breakker put a stamp on the attack by taking out both men with a vicious spear through the barricade as they, along with Paul Heyman, celebrated the decimation, and Reed took away Reigns’ sneakers to flaunt them as his own.
Winner: Jey Uso via DQ
Grade: B
Key Takeaways:
- The heels stand tall in the final brawl ahead of their SummerSlam clash, and the beatdown also put the notion in doubt that babyfaces will reign supreme at the PLE.
- Michael Cole pointed out that Jey has never lost to Reed in singles competition.
